Comments about Rule Industries Automatic 12V Bilge Pumps:
I installed this pump as a 12 volt back up for my basement 120 volt sump pump. After the power went out, this pump ran for 14 hours straight with no problem keeping the water out of my basement during hurricane Irene. It kept up. I powered it with a 27 frame deep cycle boat battery and got no water when my neighbors all took on between 4 and 8 inches. None had a back up. I will get an 1100 to insure it has the capacity during the worst conditions and keep the 500 as a back up to the back up.

Comments about Automatic 12V Bilge Pumps:
I wish it would cycle like every 15 minuts instead of 2.5. it would be great as a shower sump pump that you only turn on wile taking a shower, but as a bilge pump it cycles too often and draws almost 2 amps for 1-2 seconds every 2.5 minuts. I'm going to add a float switch, but it would be great if the timing was adjustable. it would be better every 15 minuts or every half hour. for my install, I would like it at 1 hour intervals.

Comments about Automatic 12V Bilge Pumps:
I have a 16'8" Whaler - the Montauk hull (1975) but it's a Carrituk so its like a 15' sport with a side console I cobnverted to drive from the center of that bench seat - whalers have the tunnel down below for the cables, etc - and the bilge pump has to fit down inside there - I run a 90 elbow on it and up and over the transome but there's no room for a float switch unless y9u want to shove it down that tunnel towards the bow... so this pump fits nicely remembering though a vertical outlet would be ideal. The 500 rule turns on every few minutes and it can kill a battery opver a couple weeks epsecially if you have rain but the biggest issue.... every other year I have to replace it. On my 6th year and 3rd pump... I thoujght about sending two of them back asking why they wont last 2 years. When the 3rd pump went, I changed to the rulemate 500 with the electronic sensor,,, and after a year, if fried too... maybe someone will make a design that will last 2 years or more but this model has yet to do that for me.

Comments about Rule Industries Automatic 12V Bilge Pumps:
After 6 years of dependable service my older Rule 800 GPM float pump went out on my boat. I was please with the longevity, durability and functionally of the original pump so my obvious choice to replace it was another Rule. I purchased the 1100 GPM automatic pump. The automatic feature works great and has not run the battery down in periods when the boat hasn't been used for a while. It was very simple and straight forward to install and based on previous experiences with Rule pumps, I know it will provide many years of service. I couldn't be more pleased with the value and service these pumps provide.

Comments about Rule Industries Automatic 12V Bilge Pumps:
I installed this product in my boat bilge after another brand failed in only three years. The automatic sensor is a plus that ensures that your bilge stays high and dry. It was a cinch to install based on its compact size and wiring location. Now it just automatically takes care of any water it senses. The pump is very efficient and wastes no energy pumping when there's no water. Great product!

Comments about Rule Industries Automatic 12V Bilge Pumps:
I have a large-capacity Rule bilge pump in my 40-footer as the main boat-saver, but the way the float switch is set up relative to the pump, there is always a small "puddle" in the deepest and narrowest part of the bilge. This little automatic pump fits right in there and keeps everything dry. An added plus is that the big pump never has to run. Just this morning I noticed that the little automatic pump still cycles on about every 125 seconds, but, even though there is a bit of water in the bilge (lots of snow and rain lately), the pump shuts down before the bilge is dry. I think the load sensor may be worn out. But even so, for the cost of this item and the fact that it has lasted about three years while cycling every 125 seconds seem pretty good to me. I'll replace it with one just like it, unless just cleaning the one I have now solves the problem.

Comments about Automatic 12V Bilge Pumps:
I like these pumps (Rule 3 wire electronic sampling type) for their compact design and simplicity. They are a little more expensive than a standard pump but about the same as a pump and float switch. Because they incorporate a water sensing feature (sampling instead of float switch) they streamline the auto/manual bilge pump installation. One less thing to fail/clog/stick/corrode/step on etc. So far, the only bilge pumps that I install. Nathan,[...].
Comments about Rule Industries Automatic 12V Bilge Pumps:
This is a compact bilge pump which solves the awkward dilema of installing a level switch, with the attendant extra wiring, cost & (most important)unreliability. The pump electronics have a built in control which senses load on the pump impeller. Every few minutes the pump runs auotmatically for 1 to 2 seconds. If the sensor maesures load then the pump continues to run until the bilge is pumped dry. At this time the sensor feels the change in load & cuts off the pump.I have had the unit installed for about 1 yr in my basement drain pit as a back-up to my AC house pump. Thus in the event of a power cut during a period of heavy rain my batery driven back up keeps my basement dry. I aim to fit this unit on my 38 ft which has three very truoblesome bige pumps.
