Comments about Simrad NSE Network Navigation System:
The brightest display I've seen in a multifunction display. The rotary control knob makes navigating menus and zooming very easy, the alphanumeric keypad makes labeling very easy. Front USB port allows for easy transfer or saving of data. The NSE has a very large hard drive so it will store an outrageous amount of waypoints, routes and tracks. I currently have over 1500 waypoints, 132 routes and about 30 tracks all saved. Lots of options to customize such as selecting different colors for routes or track lines. The sounder works excellent, the radar is great and the MARPA feature works very well. Zooming and chart redraw are is also very fast. The biggest downside is that there is currently no option for the vessel's extension line to indicate COG, only heading which if in strong currents does not accurately show your course. The other downside is the front bezel that snaps into place comes off every time the cover is removed. Not a very tight fit but I understand this is being addressed.
Overall its an outstanding multifunction display that is easy to see and easy to use.
