Comments about West Marine Manual Oil Changers:
The extractor has a series of 3 size of siphoning tubes. My wife accidentally dropped one overboard. Now I have to purchase a whole new kit at $80+ ---- rediculous!
Pros
- Easy to Use
- Effective
Cons
- Pick-up tube too stiff
Best Uses
Comments about West Marine Manual Oil Changers:
The Honda outboard on my recently purchased sailboat is awkward and heavy to remove, so being able to change oil in place is a real advantage. From reading instructions, through putting the pickup tube together, extracting the oil and putting in new, the complete job took less than 20 minutes. Only a couple of very small drips. Put the plug back in the unit, carried it home and drained it into the jug of oil to take back to the recycler. Only minor complaint is that the pick-up tube is very stiff and feels almost brittle.

Comments about West Marine Manual Oil Changers:
I've just started winterizing my sailboat's inboard diesel engine myself, and this product made changing the oil simple and clean.
Please be sure to read the directions before using this oil extractor. They are easy to understand, but you should know what you're doing before you use this excellent product.

Comments about West Marine Manual Oil Changers:
I use this to change the oil in my diesels. Also as an easy way to remove any non-volital liquids from bilges on our catamaran. Just don't invert or you will damage the pump,

Comments about West Marine Manual Oil Changers:
Overall, it worked great and I am glad I bought it. I am already loaning it to my friends. I used this to get out the transmission fluid and motor oil from my 1994 Ski Nautique inboard engine. Worked great all around for the transmission fluid. However, for the motor oil it did not work as great. The dipstick did not lead to the bottom of the drain pan. So, I had to put the tube down the drain hose which was not quite as easy. I was not able to get all the oil I thought I should be able to get out of the engine but got enough to feel okay about it. If they designed the dipstick to always be over the drain pan, this would work great. Or, if there was a slightly more flexible tube that could bend a little more.

Comments about West Marine Manual Oil Changer:
works as advertised...pump it up and walk away. Its too easy!! No mess to deal with. Totally self contains the oil. Easy to drain
Pros
- Easy to Use
Cons
- Instructions suck
Best Uses
- Car Oil Change
Comments about West Marine Manual Oil Changers:
Instructions are a bit unclear; but it's not too hard to figure out that the screwed fitting is not needed for a car oil change. The tube provided did not fit the dip stick of a Toyota Camry, but worked well with a Mercedes. A 1/4" OD tygon tube worked for Camry and was easy to attach to a spare fitting that is provided. Once assembled right, the device worked flawlessly.
Pros
- Easy to Use
- No mess to the boat
- Simple to use
- You stay clean
Cons
- None
Best Uses

Comments about West Marine Manual Oil Changers:
I enjoy almost everything about boating, and with this product now changeing the oil is easy.
The next best thing would be to get someone else to change your oil.
Quality product at a fair price!
