It still features the secondary drag system that allow baits to swim free with the bail closed, but now it’s got all the latest features from Shimano, including: Propulsion Line Managment System, Fluidrive II gearing, Super Stopper anti-reverse, Varispeed oscillation, SR one-piece bail wire, Dartainium II drage washers, three shielded A-RB ball bearings, S-Rotor, S-Arm Cam and oversized Septon handle grips. The frame is still light, strong graphite, and the spool is cold-forged aluminum. Now there’s a host of reasons for loyal Baitrunner fans to upgrade!

Easy to use on the bottom with live bait for Grouper or top water for Cobia, King Mackeral, Mahi and others. I have used my 12000D with jigs for bottom dwellers and have used it to manhandle large Amberjacks to the boat without the usual fatigue. This is an all around great all purpose reel. The Shimano service is great too.
