Collapsible Box Anchor
Recommended for protected waters or beach use, this anchor’s unique shape enables it to set in most bottom types with half the rode normally needed for conventional anchors. It sets quickly, retrieves easily and folds flat for compact storage. Its fixed scoop design and narrow side panels set like a “cookie cutter” into sand, mud, grass or rock. Narrow side panels eliminate resistance upward for easy retrieval. If the wind or current changes, the anchor resets in seconds. A stabilizing bar and spring make it easy to lock the anchor open for use or collapse it for storage.
The hot-dipped galvanized version has stainless steel hinge pins, stabilizing bar, return spring, and nut for years of corrosion-resistant performance in fresh or salt water. Stainless-steel version is cast and polished 304 stainless.
- Style: Box
- Material: Galvanized steel/stainless steel
- Application: Most bottom types

Comments about Collapsible Box Anchor:
Used it in 15-20mph wind first time this weekend, open 60' deep water and the anchor held amazingly well, the boat didn't move an inch. A bit hard to pull up in the wind but I'll take that over something not holding everytime!

Comments about Collapsible Box Anchor:
I have a 26 foot sailboat and have two of the 25 pound anchors. I have only used one at a time so far, but even in strong winds with one anchor, it held in sand/mud very well. I worry a bit that the flukes are not long enough to get a VERY secure hold if I was even anchored in an unsheltered area...but until it fails me, I will continue to test and trust in it!
I use this with 10 feet of chain.
My only complaint is that its a bear to haul the chain and 25 pound anchor with mud on it, in by hand.

Comments about Collapsible Box Anchor:
Couldn't get this anchor to hold on sand, mud, weedy, or rocky bottoms with any wind or current for my 19' boat, this size (small) is rated for 18' to 30' boats. The only time this anchor holds is when conditions are dead calm. The flukes are too small, get fouled easily with weeds, and don't dig in enough to hold in sand, mud or rocky bottoms. At 19 pounds and [$] this anchor is a big disappointment, I have a 6 foot chain on it and it doesn't matter how much rode I play out, can't get the anchor to hold. On several occasions my boat was the only one not holding, both heavier and lighter boats in the same area and conditions were holding fine with danforth style anchors. After 2 years of trying to make this anchor work, I'm purchasing a danforth style. Can't believe there are so many positive reviews on this anchor, I have almost 40 years experience operating boats and have owned several styles of anchors, never used one that performs as poorly as this one.

Comments about Collapsible Box Anchor:
i have owned one of these anchors for ten years, i would agree with west marine's review, it works well in protected waters and light winds, how ever we do a house boat trip every year to lake powell, and at least one night of the trip every year we get a thunder storm that come's through with extremely high wind, 50 to 60mph, and the slide anchor breaks loose, it doesn't set deep enough in the red sand of lake Powell, we end up pulling the anchor up and driving around during the storm. for every day use a lake mead, it has been great, but not good in a sandy bottom with high winds.

Comments about Collapsible Box Anchor:
On small and large lakes we became frustrated with other anchors not holding reliably. This anchor has never failed us even on a short rode. On a boat beach in Lake Tahoe we had a thunder storm blow in with very high winds. Our boat was the only one that did not drag it's anchor. Very impressed. Wish they made a small lunch hook version.

Comments about Collapsible Box Anchor:
We boat on Lake Lewisville, TX, which for the most part has a muddy bottom. There are a few rocky areas and quite a few underwater trees. This always makes setting an anchor a challenge. The box anchor on our Four Winns Vista will be our aft anchor since we have a windlass now. It always gets a good bite on the lake bottom and holds boats well. Highly recommend this anchor for a beginner or expert alike!
