I installed these as a middle cleat on my 19' Sylvan primarily for bumper attachment. Works well but there are a few sharp edges that may chafe your ropes.

I was able to add a cleat and not have it stick out from the side of my boat where it would be in the way. All stainless steel is the only way to go and the fold away feature is why I bought it. The only thing I'm not sure of is how long the spring will last and I had to go to last years catalog to order it because it was not in the new catalog or on the web site.
