Comments about Raymarine Type 1 Linear Drive 12 V:

I'm on my 2nd unit and I have also used wheel-pilots as a back-up. Unlike tiller-pilots and wheel-pilots this unit is not easily accessible and disabled if it freezes and lock-up your steering. I had this happen and I could absolutely not budge my yachts rudder. A very scary experience as you can easily imagine. Can be as deadly on a boat as would be on a car! The Australian dealer showed no surprise or interest.
