RULE INDUSTRIES
Rule-Mate Fully Automatic Bilge Pumps

The new eco-friendly Rule Mate series of Bilge pumps feature a solid state water sensing technology that eliminates the need for a separate float switch. When water enters the bilge and reaches a certain height (2-3/4 inches) a sensor turns the pump on. After the water is pumped out, another sensor shuts the pump off.

The sensor's unique "field effect" technology is programmed to recognize the dielectric constant of water only. In the event of an onboard oil spill, straight motor oil that enters the bilge will not turn the pump on. It's part of Rule's continuing commitment to preserving our waterway.

The new Rule Mates are available in 500, 750 and 1100 GPH models. Rule has been building bilge pumps for 30 years. The pumps are preferred by yachtsmen and commercial fishermen the world over.

  • All-in-one pump & switch—no float switch required
  • Pump turns on when water level rises & shuts off when water is removed
  • Will not pump oil—straight motor oil will not turn pump on
  • Snap-off strainer for easy cleaning
  • Anti-fouling impeller
  • Limited three year warranty

I have installed several of these pumps over the last year with no comebacks. I especially like the test button on the back of the pump. Connecting the pump with reversed polarity will ruin the switch and cause it to run continuously. I found this out repairing a customer self install. The pump is clearly labeled with a polarity warning.

I installed it the first time and it worked good for 2 weeks and than it was not shutting off.
I returned it and got a new one. Same problems
won't shut off after water is pumped out.
I think the water sensor gets dirty and when water hits it, it acts almost like wet mud and keeps on pumping until it dries up. It's only a mater of time until rule upgrades it or goes back to the older styles....I hope.

Comments about Rule-Mate Fully Automatic Bilge Pumps:

the old type with the float switch was more reliable, the sensor switch has to be cleaned before launch. if not it will keep running and drain the batteries.

Comments about Rule-Mate Fully Automatic Bilge Pumps:

I replaced two existing bilge pumps midships. They work well in tandem with each other as one feeds the other. Very easy to install. So easy a 12 year old could do it. No 12 year olds around so I did it myself!

          DON'T BUY THIS PUMP

Comments about Rule-Mate Fully Automatic Bilge Pumps:

Don't buy this pump, I bought 2 thinking automatic, very expensive unit would perform well. I have had nothing but problems with this pump. I keep one boat on the trailer and the other on a lift, I constantly have to pull them out at least once a month and spray them and wipe them down in order for them to shut off. I kept the boat in the water for a week, I had to clean the pump twice in a week so that it would not run. Went to start the boat yesterday and the battery was dead, good thing I have a dual battery set up. Changing both to the tried and true float switch.

Comments about Rule-Mate Fully Automatic Bilge Pumps:

Switch has proven faulty. Bidge gets water in it, pump turns on and drains water from bilge but then stays on draining battery unless manually reset by turning power off and then on again. Pump eventually burns out leaving boat unprotected.
