Comments about Shakespeare Sturdy Stik Bigwater Trolling Combo, 6'6", Med:

I bought this combo from another vender but returned it and bought a penn from west marine. This combo is very low quality. First off the reel wobbled and felt loose on the cheap rod. Had to tighten down but afraid the cheap plastic clamps would break. Ended up using a long zip tie to keep the reel secured. Used the combo twice. Once on a kayak for trolling and it worked satisfactory for that but then I brought it to a pier to fish and casting was a nightmare. Many of the casts would be disrupted by the lever re-engaging after the swing. So I would have to hold the lever down then immediately put my thumb over the spool to keep the line from birds nesting. But just as the fish started hitting I got a huge birds nest and said screw it. I think this could be a descent reel if Shakespeare tweeks it a bit. But right now it's just junk.

We bought one liked the feel of the double bearing reel. Went back boight two more. Only suggestion have them string the line.

Comments about Shakespeare Sturdy Stik Bigwater Trolling Combo, 6'6", Med:

The rod itself was perfect. It has a great backbone and can pull big fish in like Snappers, Cobia, and Grouper (Probably not Goliath Groupers). The first reel it came with broke after 2 uses but they changed the reel it came with now and it works great now. Its perfect for bottom fishing or party boat charters. After the changes they made, I would highly recommend it.
