Nasci Spinning Reels

This is destined to be the versatile go-to reel you'll want to take on every fishing trip!

Shimano set out to create a series of reels with the goal of eternally smooth reeling. It appears they've reached that objective with the Nasci Spinning Reel series. Reels with features you'd probably expect to find on those costing much more—upgraded drag, powerful gearing, durable construction and (might we point out) an attractive design that will stand the test of time.

You'll soon wonder how you previously caught any fish without the technologies incorporated in the Nasci 2500FB (and discussed in greater detail below). Shimano's CoreProtect, X-Ship and, at the heart of the reel, Hagane Gearing which provides greater power when reeling and smoother overall operation.

CoreProtect

The concept of CoreProtect is simple. Provide water resistance without creating a heavy rotation feeling. Three key areas of the reel  require that kind of protection: the roller clutch, the body and the line roller. CoreProtect provides total protection.

X-Ship

The Nasci 2500FB Spinning Reel gets its increased gearing efficiency and power through the X-Ship system which enables smooth reeling—even under heavy loads (like those you'll experience when fighting very large fish). Input power is transmitted effectively through eliminating twist and rotor flex so you'll enjoy powerful and silky smooth cranking. Shimano's unique mechanism for robust gear engagement uses an enlarged drive gear, optimum positioning of the pinion and drive gears and two-point support of the pinion gear whose ends are supported by bearings. X-Ship also provides improved gear durability. By supporting the pinion gear on both ends with bearings, the pinion gear maintains precise alignment with the drive gear. This means the gears will stay in the same position under the heaviest loads. An added benefit is that friction between the spool shaft and gear are eliminated. What does that mean for you? Enhanced casting performance that will allow you to use lighter lures and cast farther.

Hagane Gear

This technology features a highly durable, cold-forged aluminum drive gear—the Hagane Gear. No cutting work is applied to the teeth of this drive gear. Instead the entire surface is calculated in minute detail through a special 3D design and then formed by Shimano’s cold forging technology. The result? An amazingly strong gear that gives you that "first time out" smooth, pleasurable feeling over and over again.

Front Drag

When you hook into a hard-fighting fish you'll appreciate the durability, smoothness and performance of the front drag system. By adjusting the drag according to the line weight/strength ahead of time, you won't find yourself needing to change your drag in the middle of reeling in your fish.

Super Stopper II

Shimano eliminates back-play (the handle and bail moving in reverse) with their Super Stopper II anti-reverse that features a one-way roller bearing so you have instant hook-setting power.

AR-C Spool

This patented cold-forged aluminum spool design has a V-shaped spool lip so your line will peel off in smaller loops resulting in longer, more accurate casts. This line management system also minimizes the risk of backlash.

Dyna-Balance Rotor

Using computer balancing (similar to how your mechanic balances your vehicle tires), Shimano eliminates wobble during the retrieve. By counter balancing the rotor they enhance sensitivity and give you smooth rotation without vibrations.

Varispeed Oscillation

By utilizing an oval oscillation gear, Shimano has altered the speed of the oscillation cam on Nasci reels so you get a consistent spool speed. The result is a perfectly even line lay for better casting and line management.

Power Roller

Repeatedly casting and retrieving your line creates unwanted loops and twists during your casts. Nasci reels are equipped with the Power Roller line twist reduction system. This special grooved design assures line twist will be reduced by as much as 50%.

Power Handle

Shimano's Power Handle provides extra leverage when you need it to fight trophy fish. And it's reversible so you can easily change your reel from left-handed retrieve to right-handed.
