I purchased this 8x30 bino more than 2 years ago and have used it primarily at the range but also for sight seeing and some nature watching. I was a little worried that the fixed 8-power it offers would limit its utility. This is the clearest binoculars I have ever used. The quality of the optics is outstanding. Makes me want to get a 20-power version for use for long range spotting. What I and my friends finds the most amazing is the Auto Focus feature. It does not matter who uses it and what their vision might. It did not matter if they were near or far sighted. The binos provided clear, crisp focus and instantaneous transition between subjects near and far. This includes focusing on something at 10-yards to a measured 600+ yards without any detectable delay. I highly recommend this optic for most uses. The only "problem" I have ever had a problem is one or both of the attached objective lense caps seem to always find its way onto the objective on its own. So once in a while you will find yourself looking through the optic and not see anything. But other than this, I have no complaints.

The LRF does not return on targets over about 1100 meters. The Claim is for returns on "highly reflective" targets out to 1860 Yards. What constitutes a highly reflective target? A man, a tank, a mud building, maybe a mirror? I guess if I'm ever targeting massive mirrored office buildings these are the binos of choice!
I don't know why they call them "military." They are rugged and can probably take a beating, but beyond that there isn't much "military" about them. There is no Mils pattern for round spotting, so they are just civilian binos with an under performing LRF.
For the exuberant cost I expected more, the non-expiring warranty and superb optics removes some of the bad taste in my mouth, but I would not recommend this purchase for anyone doing serious Military tactical targeting.

Comments about Steiner Marine 8 x 30 Binoculars:

Just got them. Seem to be well constructed and easy to use. Optics are good. Bought them to carry in the truck. They'll work nicely for that. I was prepared to be disappointed, but I'm not.

Comments about Steiner Marine 8 x 30 Binoculars:

I bought a pair of these through an online store and was happy I did. Very clear glass and built like a tank. I use these at the gun range as well as at my work and couldnt be happier. Clear vision and minimal adjustment needed.

So good I bought another pair!

By Wera32

Comments about Steiner Marine 8 x 30 Binoculars:

I bought my first pair of these binoculars a year ago. I use them for bird watching and find that 8X is perfect. I like that I don't have to worry if it rains or if they get dropped. The sport focus makes it easy to get a look at a bird that may be gone in seconds. A quick eyepiece adjustment allows closer viewing. I just ordered another pair to keep in my car. I like these better than my Pentax bins.

Comments about Steiner Marine 8 x 30 Binoculars:

I have had these binos for over 3 years and used them in all weather. They have great light gathering capability and are rugged. The end caps are great to help keep clean and protect the lens while stowed.
