Product Description

The Sunforce 1.8 Watt Solar Battery Maintainer is the perfect solution for charging the batteries of cars, tractors, fishing boats, motor boats, and much more! Made of durable ABS plastic and amorphous solar cells, this unit charges in all daylight conditions - even on cloudy days. Constructed with a built-in blocking diode to prevent reverse discharge, this solar panel is easy to install and completely maintenance free. Just plug this solar charger into your boat or car’s 12V lighter socket and position the panel to pick up the most daylight possible. Or, if you prefer, use the included alligator clamps to connect it directly to the battery, so you can keep your lighter socket open for cell phone chargers or other accessories. Regardless of how you hook up the battery maintainer, you will always be able to start your boat or vehicle! With a maximum temperature range of -40 to 176-degrees Fahrenheit, the solar panel provides 1.8 Watts or 125 mA of power to prevent the natural voltage drain of batteries over time. The complete kit includes a 1.8W solar battery maintainer, suction cups for easy mounting onto windshields, 7.5ft wire, alligator battery clamps and a 12 Volt DC Plug.

I have used these maintainers on boats, motorcycles, and lawn equipment. Anywhere you have a battery to maintain and nowhere to plug into power. Wish they were more weatherproof.

Comments about 1.8 Watt Solar Battery Maintainer:

I have used several solar chargers on my boats and had excellent results. one stays exposed 24/7-365 on my pontoon and has been there doing it's thing for 2 years straight. Another keeps the battery on my lift stored Falls Flyer up all winter long. I am giving them as Christmas Gifts to my sons and friends.

Comments about 1.8 Watt Solar Battery Maintainer:

I purchase the solar panel to maintain the small battery on my J24 charge at all times. Every week after I leave the boat I would connect the charger and leave the solar panel outside, on the 3rd week I notice some condensation inside the panel, on the 4th week it rain and water got inside the panel and it stop working,I asked a West Marine employee about this and he told me that it was not waterproof, then I reply; How can you have a solar panel that is not waterproof? Is going to be difficult to use it inside without the sun. He didn't have an answer.

Only worked for a week. Electrical connections came unsoldered. It was never outside. Simon Bailey at Sunforce said he would "send out a replacement to you today", when I complained. That was in April and it still hasn't arrived.

For support of instrument/navigation equipment battery. Means/suggestion of temporary mounting would be a benefit.

Comments about 1.8 Watt Solar Battery Maintainer:

i have a 20' pontoon boat, and we take it out to sand bars, and islands all day. i keep the claps on the battery all the time so all i have to do is take it out of its plastic bag the i keep it in, Velcro it to the side of the boat, and we have music ALL day long. Never have to start the boat to recharge the battery. One thing though, mine said it was waterproof, but when i call the manufacturer they said it wasn't. So you have to use clear silicon to seal the edges, which takes just a minute. Already ordering one for my bother in law for xmas.

It does work to maintain at least a group 24 size battery but the device failed through water leakage around the glass/plastic border within a few years. This was despite using a sealant.
