Product Description

The Churn is a multi-sport shoe that specializes in getting wet, perfect for all salt- and freshwater sports, with Spider Original rubber made to grip like crazy in wet environments. A thin nylon shank keeps your foot stable and in control, and the Shoc Pad™ in the heel gives you serious shock absorption. Its mesh upper is extremely breathable and quick-drying, making it the perfect shoe for those hot days when all you want to do is plunge into the water, with drainage channels in the forefoot that allow the water to escape. Back on land, you can take advantage of the Churn’s fold-down heel which loosens its grip, for when you just feel like slipping into your shoes.

I use these Churns for everyday wear. I was able to get a new pair half off. I never even tried them on in store, but they fit true to size and exceeded my expectations. I've had these for close to a year now and I plan on getting a 2nd/3rd pair if I ever see them on sale again. The pair I have now are still in great shape and do not have much wear on the sole.

While most of the upper construction is super lightweight mesh, the sole of the heel is very thick and durable. So it's not ultra light weight, but overall weighs about the same as my other lightweight day use sneakers/running shoes.

I don't even have mine tightened at all and the shoe fits snug b/c the upper is elasticized (snug enough to run in). So they are easy on and easy off without the hassle of tying shoes, but if you need to tighten them, it's a cinch (pun intended, b/c all you do is cinch the drawstring-like closure system).

The next big advantage is the slipper-like quality. If I'm going outside to check the mail or in a rush to get out the door and into my car, I don't even bother putting my heel into the shoe; I just wear them like slippers. Works as advertised and is definitely a pro!

I have received several positive comments by friends who like the charcoal grey styling and the reflective lining holding the laces. The reflection isn't enough to add meaningful safety, but it's better than nothing and looks great. The charcoal grey shoes go well with my dark denim jeans.

For day-to-day wear, the mesh is both a pro and con. I don't like walking across wet grass (e.g., morning dew or after a rain/sprinklers) because the mesh works too well and I can feel the moisture creeping in from the top of the toe area. I don't mind this, since it's to perform its advertised duty of draining/drying quickly if the shoes get water logged.

I only have one con about these shoes. Within the first 2 days of wearing them, the little synthetic leather nub that holds the shoelace down at the toe of the shoe came unstitched/undone. After a few months, I was tired of looking down and seeing one shoe looking slightly different than the other, so I ended up just removing the nub and I also unstitched/removed the nub from the other shoe. It hasn't posed any problems, seems structurally fine, and looks like a matching pair now. (See pictures)

I liked the idea of a lightweight, versatile shoe for my upcoming trip to Guatemala. Needed something water-friendly for river hikes and tubing, light enough to shuck into my duffle and sporty enough to handle a hike on Pacaya. Got these today in the mail, though, and my usual, solidly size 7 is just way too loose in these shoes. I can handle a bit of looseness but given what I need these shoes to do, they are going back in exchange for a 1/2 size smaller. Otherwise, though, look awesome, very light, and can't wait to try the 6.5 out in the wild after breaking these in during some spring camping. After seeing them in person, I'm confident once I get the size right they will be spot-on. Order down though!

Comments about Teva Men's Churn Shoes, Grey/green, 8:

Have had trouble finding shoes that provide adequate arch support and yet are not too tight. These shoes are also very light, which also helps. I will wear most of the time. Will search for others that are similar to provide a style variation.

Comments about Teva Men's Churn Shoes:

This was my first experience with no-tie shoes. The shoe initially seemed a little tight around the ankle, so I wore them around the house with and without socks. They soon molded to my foot and are now very comfortable. It's like like slipping a sock on and off, but with aggressive tread and a very stable base. I will use them for walking and workouts the gym.

Comments about Teva Men's Churn Shoes:

I am happy I bought a size 6. I am a true 6.5 and I read other reviews that said they fit big, so I ordered a size 6 and am so glad that I did. I bought these shoes to wear in the water and hiking. I am very active and like outdoor activities. I needed something that I could wear in the water while getting into and out of canoes and then hiking. I have not worn the shoes in the water yet, but I wore them hiking to break them in, this past weekend. They are very comfortable. They are very lightweight and they even look good with shorts and leggings.

I love this shoe.Just wore them to a waterpark all day, the no lace mechanism worked great never felt like i would lose the shoes! No effect from the chemicals in the water either.I have had these over a year, a surprisingly comfortable simple shoe.
Perfect for the "splash zone" rides at the parks!
No more "soggy" shoes and freezing feet from the a.c. on inside rides. Thank You Teva.
