        Comments about ComfortMate Manual Head:

I bought 2 of these heads from West Marine about 2 years ago replacing an old Jabsco and an old Raritan. Both were ancient, fouled with salt and had expensive repair kits. We use them only for liquids on the holding tanks, which is 99% of the time. We also do not use any salt water, but flush with a small cup of water or diluted commercial odor control preparations. The only odor problems occur when holding tank is full. Also, one of the valves blew out but was easily replaced. No more ugly dissection jobs, yeh.

Being able to mount separately really helped because the stiff old hoses were almost impossible to move.

Seat size is the only fualt and buy cutting the inside out to get more open length it is very good.
I can't understand why electric, it just isn't that hard to pull the pump 4 or 5 times. And most electric pumps are noisier.

I have had this toilet since last July. I really liked it at the start but a month into a little drip started on the shaft handle. This just started to bug me when mold ended up showing up. Figured that this year I would correct it and now the pump failed. I noticed when trying to pass solids that my black rubber hose on this would collapse. I have never had problems with a marine toilet until I bought this one.

                  Comments about ComfortMate Manual Head:

I would disagree with the other comment on this head not working well. I have had the head installed for about a year now and have had not trouble with it at all. I use the head a lot as a live aboard. I have found from years of expierience using single ply Scotts toilet paper works the best.(using the rv paper has not bennifits over Scotts single ply.) Allowing the paper to wet out totally before trying to force it down the head into the pump makes the head work properly. The head is very comfortable and I enjoy the use of a larger size bowl and seat. I just recently had to replace the duck bill valve after a year of daily use.(easy to replace and less then $10.00) I would recommend this head.

This is a very nice looking toilet, it's just too bad that it doesn't work. I made the mistake of purchasing this toilet based upon the marketing hype from the company. I purchased the toilet when I decided to upgrade my sanitary system and install a larger holding tank. I replaced the toilet, holding tank, hoses, fittings, everything associated with the sanitary system. From the very first day it was put into service it has not worked. The toilet had a difficult time passing toilet paper (RV/Marine TP) and when it did pass TP, the TP plugged the pump inlet. Since I have to disassemble the pump to clear the clogs, I will not allow anyone to use the toilet for any purpose other than liquids. I know that this toilet will not pass solids. [...] Please save yourself time and expense and purchase a different toilet, from a different company, don't make the same mistake I made.
