Product Description

The ultimate outboard for boaters on lakes that have restricted the use of gasoline outboards, or for sailors who prefer quiet electric propulsion: Torqeedo Cruise models are in a class of their own when it comes to power and efficiency. Due to the use of a highly efficient rare earth magnet torque motor, electronics and gear package, Torqeedo Cruise models deliver up to twice the range from the same battery supply compared to other popular electric motors.

The Cruise 4.0R model delivers the thrust of a 10hp gas outboard. It can move sailboats up to six tons at speeds up to six knots. A well-stocked 24' pontoon boat with seven people aboard will be moved at 6mph.

  • Power: Input power 4,000W @ 48V, output power 2,240W (comparable to 9.9hp gas outboard)
  • Voltage: 48V
  • Battery: External (remote battery bank sold separately)
  • Steering: Tiller steered
  • Shaft Length: 29 11/16"
  • Weight: 42.3lb.
  • Gearing: F-R continuously variable

Great motor

Comments about Cruise 4.0 Tiller Steered Outboard, Long Shaft, 48V:

This recent addition of a tiller handle in the 4.0 is great for boats w/o a steering console. This motor pushes my reservoir rig(1400#) at just under 7 mph. I have 8-6 volt(600 pounds) batteries running this motor. This gives me run time at full throttle of around 2 hrs. These motors do have a sweet spot. Full throttle is around 3600 watts at 6.9mph. At 2400 watts Im at 6 mph with at least double run time. The only downfall is at full throttle the motor does become somewhat difficult to steer. The tiller computer is great. Very accurate on speed, battery life. Great motor.
