Try to get these tanks re-qualified!

Comments about Trident Rubber Composite LPG Cylinder, 17lb. Fiberglass LPG Tank:

Nice tanks! Lightweight and look good on my catamaran. The tanks are supposed to have a lifespan of 15 years. Every 5 years they are supposed to be re-qualified. This is a very simple test with bright light looking for cracks. No pressure test has to be done like a hydrostatic for scuba tanks. But no re-qualifier is on the West Coast. Trident Rubber wanted me to send them back East for the test. What a hassle! Southern California Edison (SCE) on Catalina Island would not fill the tanks because it did not have the required re-qualification sticker. Propane fillers on the mainland could care less. They well fill anything! Make sure you have enough propane if you go to Catalina and spend any time there.

Service and delivery comments:

Re-qualification is a big hassle if your tanks are five (5) years past manufacture date.

Comments about Trident Rubber Composite LPG Cylinder, 17lb. Fiberglass LPG Tank:

I was not getting full power from the European units that came with the boat, changed the whole system; regulator, tanks, valves and stove. What a difference, I can cook and bake at the same time, these tanks have more capacity than the ones supplied with the boat (17lb to 9lb), are easier to fill ( no gadget valve) and easier to connect. They also are lighter and look great.

              15 year service life

Comments about Trident Rubber Composite LPG Cylinder, 17lb. Fiberglass LPG Tank:

These cylinders have a 15 year service life, not 5 as noted by another reviewer. You just need to get them requalified every 5 years. This is a simple visual procedure done by a DOT approved requalification facility.

Comments about Trident Rubber Composite LPG Cylinder, 17lb. Fiberglass LPG Tank:

I have a small fishing boat. Because of the alcohol content of fuel, I was haveing a difficult time keeping my small two stroke engine running. I replaced it with a Lehr propane outboard. The composite tank is great for the harsh saltwater environment.
