I saw "Rust Remove Soak" on the DIY network show and since my basement received 5 feet of water from Hurricane Sandy everything was soaked in salt water. It took about 8 days to pump and dry out the basement before I could get to work on my tools which were completely rust by then.  This product WORKED after washing of the product with a brush and water my chrome plated tools are as bright as the day I bought them, The tools that were not plated have no rust any more.

Doesn't last nearly as long as others and $ more.

Paid more for this than what I've been using because of the name. It turned black and quit working after the first part. Not happy.

Rust Eater

Comments about Wd-40 Rust Remover Soak, Gallon:

Looks like water, no smell, not impressive out of the can. Just wait until you see what it does ! Like watching water boil, you don't really see it in action, just the results, and they are fantastic. Bought this heavy rusted vise at a yard sell. Look at it after 24 hours in dip. Too large to get it all in at once, so I'm flipping it each morning.

Comments about Wd-40 Rust Remover Soak, Gallon:

I've tried quite a few rust removers, and decided to try this although I was somewhat doubtful that it would perform as advertised. But I was definitely wrong. Incredible. I wish it was a little cheaper, but at least I'm not wasting money on products that don't work.

    Gun bluing

    By hikerhunter

Comments about Wd-40 Rust Remover Soak, Gallon:

I bought this to remove rust on some firearms. I tested it on an old barrel first to see if it would remove the bluing, which is a type of oxidation just like rust. THIS WILL REMOVE FIREARM BLUING!! So, don't use it on your collectors guns.

    Good on Surface Rust

    By Philbert

    from Minnesota

Comments about Wd-40 Rust Remover Soak, Gallon:

This product worked well on surface rust on several tools, but not as well on deeper, pitted rust. I removed loose rust first with a wire brush under running water, and cleaned the items with a degreaser. The WD-40 Rust Soak removed most if the remaining surface rust fairly quickly. Pitted rust remained, despite periodically checking and rinsing the parts. Eventually, the solution turned black and stained my parts black. Reps said I 'overexposed' them, but I was just trying to get off remaking rust.

Resident from LBI, NJ. A Sandy Storm victim successfully restored many tools that were rusted from the hurricane. Some tools are antiques and they came out almost brand new.
Great product, easy to use if you follow directions. The amount of rust, depends on soak time, anywhere from 45 minutes to overnight.

Still not sure of correct disposal techniques, will check out with hazard waste station.
        Highly recommend
