Product Description

It was hard to improve on our perennially best-selling coastal jacket, but our seventh-generation model delivers an improved fabric that is even more waterproof, yet doesn’t sacrifice its outstanding breathability or lightweight comfort. This jacket makes the perfect choice for weekend trips in moderate conditions with its fully lined, fully seam sealed, breathable, 100% water- and windproof Oxford nylon outer shell with a Durable Water Repellent (DWR) finish. The articulated hood pod and brushed mesh collar have been improved by adding extra room so when the collar is fully zipped it will allow for the additional bulk of mid layers. Hi-vis, foldaway hood features volume adjuster and one-handed aperture adjusters. Internal layering loops at neck and cuffs. Other additions include cargo pockets that are now angled for easier access, super soft handwarmer pockets are located behind the cargo pockets without zippers for easier use, plus zippered handwarmer pockets have been added at the upper chest to make access easy while wearing a PFD. Internal zip pocket with headphone port, adjustable cuffs, internal Dartex storm cuff, two-way storm flap with drainage channel, two-way non-corrosive center front zipper and adjustable waist with internal shock cord adjusters. Imported.

Great Jacket for the Money

Nice durable jacket, packed full of features. Absolutely love the cuffs to keep water out and pockets at different levels to keep hands warm even with a PFD on. Lost of storage.

I have owned this jacket for about 7 years. The jacket has mostly hung in the closet, been worn very few times, and looks like new on the outside. The red outer shell material is lined with a white plastic film; there is an inner liner of grey fabric material and a band of open mesh. The problem is that the white plastic material is disintegrating and sheds small white plastic flakes through the open mesh. This is a manufacturing defect not an issue of wear or age.

Perfect foul weather gear for Cheseapeke Bay at good price.

Comments about Mens Third Reef Jacket, Extended Sizes:

This is a light/midweight coat that can be used in colder conditions with layers underneath. I rarely wear my much more expensive offshore foul weather gear because the cloth is so heavy it makes movement more difficult.

Very happy with this raincoat!

Comments about Mens Third Reef Jacket, Extended Sizes:

This jacket was the 'Friday Special' a few months back, and at a hundred bucks, I figured I'd get another raincoat. Glad I did - this now my go-to jacket for rainy or even damp/misty days. It's not too heavy, so I wear warm clothing underneath, which is perfect for NC where the temperature changes regularly.

Very Pleased

Cons

    • Great for layering

Comments about Mens Third Reef Jacket, Extended Sizes:

I purchased this for my Husband and I for a camping trip, and we loved them! We use them for sailing, camping, really for everything. The Velcro allows you to completely seal up the jacket, with or with out zipping it. We ended up getting the yellow (shows up best if you go in the water or at night). I was worried about the hood being thin but that allows you to layer much better than most jackets (hats, headlamps, more hats haha). Best of all I never left over heated, just opening it up was always enough.

Comments about Mens Third Reef Jacket, Extended Sizes:

Versatile foul weather jacket. I can wear a PFD inside or outside it. Vibrant visible colors. Handwarmer, "Napoleon" and cargo pockets on the exterior and a cellphone pocket inside. Rain or snow, this is my bad weather jacket.

Comments about Mens Third Reef Jacket, Extended Sizes:

Third Reed styling and quality has been enhanced and refined over the years. This current gear is almost "top shelf." Some other brand names admittedly provide a slightly better product, but at a much higher price point. My wife and I both own a set and have been very pleased. During nor'easter and hurricane conditions as well as winter use this gear is rugged, reliable, comfortable, and remains very attractive. Breathable enough for moderate temperatures that for winter use additional layers are required to maintain warmth.

          Label bleeds and stains

          Best Uses

Comments about Mens Third Reef Jacket, Extended Sizes:

Beware! Our family all has sets of these foul weather gear with jackets and overalls, bought 6 years ago but only worn a few times. This past week we had wet weather sailing and the label on my husband's jacket bled onto his shirt, staining it. After checking the labels on our other gear, I found they all feel slightly sticky and one is also beginning to show some bleeding in one spot. I guess I could remove the labels, but with sets of identical gear, having the name tags is helpful.

Have both jacket and pants for at least 4yrs. Not only for boating, but great during hurricaines or storms on land. Great features and really comfortable. Hold up very well. No leaks. Wife approves, too.
