Product Description

These all-new designs virtually eliminate fuel evaporation and loss by containing fuel vapor within the tank instead of venting it wastefully to the atmosphere. They’re better for the environment and reduce fuel costs as all the fuel you purchase stays where it belongs—in your tank. Similar to automotive industry systems, these tanks feature a tethered, ratcheted fuel cap with a high-flow automatic vacuum valve that ensures optimal flow under all conditions. When combined with self-sealing fuel fittings, they create an integrated fuel system that is good for both the environment and your pocketbook.

Each tank features a 90° 1/4" NPT fuel fitting and an easy-to-read, slosh resistant, high contrast fuel gauge that accurately monitors the level of remaining fuel without requiring the removal of the fuel cap. Seamless, injection molded, multi-layer construction provides, beyond their stated fuel capacity, a 5% vapor space to safely allow for fuel thermal expansion and an additional 2-Cycle oil capacity to achieve a 1:16 ratio mix. Designed, built and certified to meet the requirements of EPA CFR 40 and California CCR 2468.

  • Capacity: 12 Gallon
  • Dimensions: 24"L x 18"W x 11"H
  • Warranty: Two years

Note: Any low-permeation tank may become pressurized when exposed to direct sunlight or any other source of heat. Under these conditions you may see the tank expand or bulge. Do not place the tank in a confined area that prevents this normal expansion. Pressurized low-permeation fuel system components require a thread sealant specifically designed for the unique conditions they create to maintain a leak-proof seal at their threaded connections. Tape-type thread sealants will not withstand the pressurized conditions potentially created within low-permeation systems. Permatex Aviation Form-A-Gasket No. 3, Model 13630512, is recommended for all low-permeation fuel system threaded connections.

Comments about West Marine 12 Gallon Low-Profile, Low-Permeation Above-Deck Fuel Tank:

My story you decide. Installed tank to feed 150 Mercury. Hard lined with inline filter. New hose and bulb. First time on lake it made a huge difference to the better. The gauge was accurate enough no complaints. I had read the reviews and blogs and had some concern for the tank swelling due to heat and agitation that it was suppose to. I didnt understand that this tank is like bubble gum. I saw first hand it swell 30 40% its regular size. What I didnt realize that this pressure that should vent through the cap doesnt. It built enough pressure that it pushed the remaing mix through my engine and out of the exhaust. Approx 35 dollars in gas evapped on my driveway. The cap which traps vapors to save the world actually caused a much worse scenario. My solution is an inline shut off valve to stop the flow to the engine thus forcing the cap to vent as its "designed". Would recommend to a friend with a clause to add filter and shut off valve.

Comments about West Marine 12 Gallon Low-Profile, Low-Permeation Above-Deck Fuel Tank:

Well built, compact tank. It was about a half inch too tall to fit under my bench seat so I had to swap it out for a smaller one.
