Comments about West Marine AL-390 Heavy Duty Inflatable Sportboat—Green PVC “Sportsmanx9D:

This boat is SOLID. I'm 6-2, 240lbs, and stepped into the boat on the seat, then plopped myself right down on the floor and it's rock solid. I put a 25hp 2-stroke on her, and YIKES! Planes almost instantly. VERY stable in the river, with much chop, rollers, and wakes from heavy boat traffic. That's not to say that it rides like a Cadillac however. It actually gets a little hairy with the 25, but you have the power when you need it. I was able to stand on the side, and dive into the water and the boat barely tipped. The only con I can think of, is I wish I knew for sure who manufactured this boat. There's TONS of accessories out there, but not too awful much for the exact dimensions of this particular model.

We use the boat in Mooselookmeguntic Lake in Rangeley ME at our camp. Purchased it in 2009 and still going strong. Running a 15 HP Yamaha 2 stroke seems about perfect. Planes easily and handles well. Little difficult to put in the aluminum floor boards in the spring - an extra set of hands helps.

I am on a river in CT that goes out to LI sound so I can use this boat most days even if I stay in the river.

I have had boats up to 33 feet but this one is lots of fun.....Get it & enjoy it

Comments about West Marine AL-390 Heavy Duty Inflatable Sportboat—Green PVC “Sportsmanx9D:

My 8 year old son and I fish Buzzards Bay and sometimes go up and down the coast of Scituate, MA. On hot days my daughter comes and we pull up on a sandy beach and play in the sand.

I have a Prius and my wife's "big" car is a Mazda 5. So we needed light weight and sea worthy. On the Smith trailer with a 20 Horse electric start Nissan it is around 600 pounds and pulls effortlessly.

Top speed is 21 mph...could maybe use more prop? Will plane at 10 for the cruddy days. We pass whalers on choppy days. Is it a smooth ride? No what 13' boat is? But it is fun and tolerable even on rough days because the low plane speed.

Plan on tube next year for the kids. Buy this boat. You will not regret.

Comments about West Marine AL-390 Heavy Duty Inflatable Sportboat—Green PVC “Sportsmanx9D:

We bought this boat to get back to fishing the smaller lakes but can still handle bigger water if required, it fits in the back of the Jeep with seat down and assembles in about 30 minutes at a steady pace and manual pump, a little bit of work but worth it, best with two people... Also installed retractable wheels on the transom to save the bottom of the boat. Once on the water truly impressed with stability, wife loves it as long as lawn chair on board. We have a 9.9 two stroke on the AL 390 and goes up on a plain in about three to five seconds with full throttle, although a bigger motor wouldn't hurt the 9.9 is just fine and moved the two of us and about one hundred pounds of gear with ease and fifteen to twenty miles per hour. With all factors considered this is a really great boat and would recommend it to anyone, I found these reviews very helpful in making a decision in this purchase and wanted to pass along some hopefully helpful experiences..... Great boat hope it holds up.

Have owned the boat for 1 year now. It is a great performer. A must buy. We matched ours with 15hp and get about 27 mph with 2 people. I was looking for something that held 5 people. We use it to pull the kids with tubes and power board and exploring coves and islands. Wife likes it because it doesnt flip. All 5 can sit on side and it wont flip over also has an aluminum floor. very stable and safe.
