With a capacity of 500 pounds, this kayak is buoyant enough to bring back that 200-pound marlin that didn't get away!
Our Cayman 11.5 Sit-On-Top Angler Kayak adds new meaning to the word stable. A kayak so stable we've even added an assist strap to help you stand up while you're under way. Stand up? That's right, not only can you paddle around with all the fishing gear you would ever need, you can even stand up to look for structure, make that needed flip cast that's impossible sitting down, hold your trophy catch up for all to see, pole your way through really shallow water or just stretch your legs. Try standing up with most kayaks and if you aren't adept at balancing on a ball with one leg you're more than likely going to be checking out how deep the water is.
If you're new to fishing from a kayak, why choose a sit-on-top over a sit-inside kayak? Options! It's easier to add accessories. And if you're like most kayak fishermen, outfitting your boat is half the fun! You'll have a better view of the water (and potential obstacles) around you and it's also easier to get out and back in if you feel the need to wade. Some fishermen even like the ability to hang a leg over the side when dealing with a large fish. Since you'll be more open to the elements, expect to get wet. If the water's warm, wear clothing that dries quickly and protects you from the sun's damaging rays. If the water or air is cold, you'll want to wear gear that also provides extra warmth. Neoprene shoes or boots (sold separately) feel really good instead of cold, wet feet after a day out in the elements.
Made from roto-molded polyethylene, the hull of the Cayman 11.5 is flexible and impact resistant so it will endure years of rough handling. The shape of the hull has been designed for superior stability while still maintaining maneuverability in everything from flat water to small surf.
The Cayman 11.5 features a wide cockpit making it easy to enter and exit. A molded-in foot brace system allows you to adjust your leg positions for optimal paddling and then shift positions or stretch out during the day as needed. Scupper holes are found in several places so water that finds its way over the deck will automatically drain out so you won't sit in a puddle of water all day.
The unique, roto-molded double-decker seat has a low position to give you a lower center of gravity for more efficient paddling, while the high position offers a better vantage point and makes it easier to cast, fight and land your catch. Plus, an assist strap is included to help you stand up for even more versatility. Although the seat is molded-in, you can add an adjustable, padded back support and/or a padded seat bottom (sold separately) if you'd like.
The Cayman 11.5 features a recess in the bow with shock-cord rigging for securing items on top of the deck like a dry bag (sold separately) or jacket. A bow deck plate provides access to a more secure hull storage space. You'll find handy molded-in gear trays and accessory attachment areas, as well as a mid-ship hatch with a deck plate for stashing items so they're close at hand. Four molded-in rod holders are located behind the seat so your rods, net or gaff will be out of the way while you're paddling, but easy to grab when you reach your favorite spot. A molded-in recess with shock-cord rigging for a tackle box (sold separately) or other gear is found at the stern. Molded-in side handles at the proper balance point for one person to carry the kayak are a nice addition. Comfortable carrying handles are also found at the bow and stern to help with portaging or to provide tie-off points for docking your kayak. There's even a ruler molded in the side of the deck so you can measure whether your catch is within legal limits.
Anchor Trolley System
Along the side of the Cayman 11.5 is an included anchor trolley system that operates like a clothes line and allows you to deploy and retrieve an anchor (sold separately) and bring it close to stow it. Anchoring your kayak lets you adjust and hold your position to account for wind or current.
If you don't already own them or it's time to replace the ones you have, remember to order a kayak paddle and a life jacket (both sold separately) so you'll be ready to start catching your limit as soon as possible!
