WEST MARINE
CPP Antifouling Paint with CCT

Growth-free protection with minimal paint build-up!

Formulated with CCT-Composite Copper Technology, West Marine CPP Ablative Antifouling Paint offers season-long antifouling protection with 35% less copper released into the environment. This “self-polishing” formulation wears away, releasing fresh biocides as the boat moves through the water, providing excellent protection with minimal paint buildup. Effective in salt or fresh water and is compatible with most previously painted surfaces in good condition. For best performance, two or three coats per season are recommended.

Not for sale in States where prohibited by law.

West Marine CPP Plus was rated a "Top Performer" and "Recommended" in Ablative/Copolymer Antifouling paint tests by Practical Sailor magazine (March 2006).

I used this ablative bottom paint for the past 3 years On my 35 Bertram and I have had excellent results! I previously had been using Interlux CSC and I have not seen any difference in performance using the west paint. I HAVE been very happy with the MUCH lower price of the west paint and have had the same results with regard to performance. I simply have the hull power washed at season end and I am ready fro another coat in the spring. The paint is constantly shedding during the in water use and this gives a fresh surface to repel growth and the added benefit of very little buildup. My boat yard has commented at how little growth my vessel has each fall at haul out. BY the way I launch in early March and haul out in December so I am in water for 10 months!

Not what I expected

I bought this paint cause of the great price. The problem is that it is Brown, not black.

Comments about CPP Antifouling Paint with CCT:

This is a good buy when it's on sale. It works as well as any ablative paint I've used here in freshwater and goes right over old paint without issue. That said, if I were stripping to bare hull and starting from scratch, I wouldn't use this type of paint as it wears through fairly easily and doesn't seem to limit, or shed slime very easily. It's a bit of a dinosaur as it comes to bottom paint. It generally requires yearly touch ups and an incredible amount of mixing before application. A paint shaker or at a minimum, a drill with a mixing paddle is a MUST!

Comments about CPP Antifouling Paint with CCT:

This product did not hold up at all. After spending countless hours for proper prep and application the paint did not hold up past a month. This was very frustrating do to time involved. After short season in upstate NY i will have to completely remove and apply another brand. I contacted west marine and was told to "use more coats"

Comments about CPP Antifouling Paint with CCT:

I am not shy about writing negative reviews and am just as forward about positive ones. This is one of the latter. I put two coats of this paint on the bottom of my sailboat. Drove the boat back to the dock and did not move it or do any bottom work for over 18 months. I then sold the boat and when I inspected the bottom there was no hard growth at all. Only a thin film of green slime that I wiped away with a glove. This was all the more remarkable because the boat was docked in a canal with lots of nutrients and very warm water. I cannot testify that you will get the same results in other waters but in these conditions the paint worked well and was fairly priced. I was so impressed I wrote a letter to the West CEO about it.
