This is a very comfortable chair. I weigh 230 lbs., and they hold my weight easily. Only complaint is the quality of the varnish. If left outside for a few weeks, the cheap varnish wears off. I had a spare for a backup, so before using it outside I took off the wood arms, and then sanded and varnished them with a good quality polyurethane varnish. So far the new varnish has held up for three months of outdoors use. I can't imagine why West Marine would use an inferior varnish on these.

                  Comments about Crew Deck Chair:

Bought two chairs a couple of years ago. Placed on our dock for fishing. Material faded in a couple of months; after staining the arm rests, the wood rotted out; the aluminum frame doesn't rust. These chair should only be used indoors and in other covered areas. I've had $30 aluminum chairs last a lot longer than these expensive chairs. Can't find replacement parts. The arm rests need to be made out of plastic or resin.

This is a solid chair that looks nice. It's quality is commensurate with the price. For long lasting durability the chair should be kept inside from the elements when not in use. I recommend it for comfort.

This is a cheap chair, the leg covers are plastic so they are slippery on the deck.

The only aluminum is in the back rest but it is so short it hurts your back. If any of the rest is stainless steel it holds a magnet tightly. I will not be using the chairs. Spring yard sale.

seemed like great quality out of the box, but the screws obviously were not aluminum or stainless steel, as they rusted in less than a week, leavie rusty water stains on our newly painted houseboat deck - disappointing!
