Great for marine carpet backing.

Comments about Liquid Rubber:

This product worked great for recoating my marine cockpit carpet, ( rubber backing ). My chaparral carpet had its backing crumbling and leaving black dust all over my boat. This product cured that problem. Was like I had a brand new rubber non skid backing. It is however, very hard to spread. I would say worse than honey and there is absolutely no way it's covering 50sq ft. NO WAY. I was lucky if I got 10 sq ft of coverage. It should be sold by the gal. The fact that it doesn't go very far is why I give it only four stars. For the price, I would expect a little more product. Took three cans to cover two carpets making this an expensive ordeal, but It did work.

Service and delivery comments:

The stores should carry this product. By the time you find out you need more because the coverage is way overestimated, you have to wait a week for another can.

I was able to locate the liquid rubber in Honolulu and the staff was very knowledgeable and made arrangements to ship the product by barge to the Big Island. Thanks for providing superior customer service.

          Comments about Liquid Rubber:

I applied the liquid rubber to the bottom of a West Marine boat. I cleaned the bottom with acetone and applied the liquid rubber as instructed on the can. It was very hard to apply, like very thick honey. I let it set for three days and checked to see how it was doing and it peeled of in large sections like dry skin. Now I have to remove it all and find something that will work. I do not recommend this product at all.

I used this product with MEK and did not adhere well. used the suggested solvent and what do you know, it worked. It goes on thick do not suggest thinning and be patient. I did the bottom of a very used Achilles which had a 5' slice. Patched it and still leadked. Sealed with this product and has been in the water for a month no leaks.

                Comments about Liquid Rubber:

The previous west marine product was good and bonded well. It was waterborne acrylic. Applied well and bonded.

The current product is thick and when thined with the recommended thinner took 3 weeks to dry and then peeled off.

                    Comments about Liquid Rubber:

I just finished using this product and it's been on the dinghy for less than a week--so keep that in mind when considering my review. The product is tough to work with--it's very thick and does not spread well with either a brush or roller--maybe a squeegee would help if we were to try again. Our fabric (hypalon) was in bad shape with a lot of fabric showing--the good news is that it seems to have bonded well to that surface. We were careful to "feather" the edges into the tubes to avoid edges that might contribute to peeling. It looks decent considering what we started with. If we get another couple seasons out of our old dinghy, we'll be pleased with the product. Remains to be seen how it holds up, but so far, so good.

                    Lousy product

                    About Me Weekend cruiser

                    Comments about Liquid Rubber:

I applied this to my PVC tender as directed in the instructions. I sanded the bottom with 60 grit sand paper and then applied MEK to clean it. I mixed the rubber and catalist for 10 minutes with a drill and mixing paddle and let sit for 1 hour. I then applied with a brush. After 7 days in a heated garage at 75 degrees I tested to see how it was doing. Well it was a complete waste of time as the rubber would pull off in sheets with absolutely no bonding at all. This product is junk and I would not recommend it at all. I did not contact West Marine to get my $$ back as I figure it was a learning lesson and not their fault Inland Marine makes a bad product. Live and learn!!

                    Comments about Liquid Rubber:

The product adheres well as advertised. It doesn't go very far though. It can supposedly cover 50 sq.ft., but I doubt it does more than perhaps about half that. It applies like honey and is difficult to work with. I am very displeased with the product, especially after paying the cost.
