HP rating is to high at least for the Lehrs

Comments about West Marine RIB-310 Double Floor Rigid Inflatable Boat:

They rate this Dinghy at 15 HP. I purchased the 15 HP Lehrs motor with it. The Dinghy does not handle well with this motor. The bow of the boat rises almost straight up, either heavy or pitched wrong. . If you have enough guts to stay wide open it will eventually plane but pretty hairy getting there. I am going to try my Mercury 8 HP on it next to see if it's better. The Lehrs is a great concept motor being propane but it is not built very well being a Chinese import. The cowling clip doesn't even fit right. And I notice a lot of cheap fasteners that are not made out of good materials or heat treated. I don't feel confident with this outboard.

Poor construction technique--great ride

Comments about West Marine RIB-310 Double Floor Rigid Inflatable Boat:

Lots of glue at tape edges and random smears--poor construction technique. Lots of puckers around tube angles (bow and stern tube). Forward locker collects water--could be no caulking. Nice deep V makes travel through chop an easy ride. Down side of deep V is that at rest the boat is a bit wobbly side-to-side. Without a motor on it the tubes do not come in contact with water. Less wobbly underway. We like the boat performance but time will tell on construction.

Service and delivery comments:

Granted this was a delivery to USVI, but the shipping delay of two weeks was an exception even coast to coast. Did not get commercial invoice until it was requested.

Comments about West Marine RIB-310 Double Floor Rigid Inflatable Boat:

I had been planning to purchase a 10 foot RIB for some time. After researching and comparing several brands I decided on the 310 offered by West Marine, based on its features and price. I bought the 310 online Thanksgiving Day and got an additional one day only discount, which was a pleasant surprise. The 310 fits nicely on the Dinghy Ramp davit system mounted on our Meridian 391 SD swim platform, with the 9.9 HP motor still attached to the RIB. There is plenty of room for the crew and gear. The RIB is stable and dry at trolling speed as would be expected but also at high speed (WOT) and fast!

    Great boat

Comments about West Marine RIB-310 Double Floor Rigid Inflatable Boat:

Everyone loves a hard bottom dinghy, this one has a 2nd hull inside that's flat, easy to walk in and non slip.
After twisting my ankle many times over the years on the v-hull inside or nearly falling from slipping on the slop of a v-hull inside this one is is a breeze to enter and exit.

    Service and delivery comments:

I picked this one on a Saturday in the Warwick RI store and they even had the time to help me get it to the marina down the street, inflate it and mount the motor.

A huge reason why West Marine is always my 1st choice in any of my boating needs. the Warwick RI store rocks!
