Comments about West Marine Solar Hybrid Flashlight:

Bought 3 of these flash lights. Two for gifts and to keep one for emergencies. I don't think you can ever have to many flash lights and having a rechargeable one is great to have. Unfortunately, two of them came with dead batteries.

You have to have the on/off switch set to solar in order to charge them using light. BUT the on/off switch is a push button. So, with dead batteries there is no way to tell if the switch is set to solar because there is no light to indicate what setting it is on.

This is a major flaw.

Comments about West Marine Solar Hybrid Flashlight:

Purchased 2 from west marine outlet. Included batteries are dead. Put both lights in sun for about a week now. Am lucky to get 15 minuets of run time. Originally figured as they were clearance and good price I would just buy new batteries but if solar is only going to give me 15 min. (not the 10 hours as listed on package) they are useless. one of the packages looked like it could have sat around for years.

I will try and return to local store. but when i had out in sun it rained. packaging dissolved/fell apart. so i do not know if WM will take back. will try and see what happens.

Comments about West Marine Solar Hybrid Flashlight:

This flashlight is a good deal. It is easy to handle, small and lightweight. The switch is easy to manipulate. I haven't yet worked with the recharging element, but it is nice to know it is there. I currently keep it in my car and it has come in quite handy.

When all other battery-powered flashlights are dead, this one comes through. One in my car, one in my junk drawer, one in the trailer, one in my sailbag. Keep a charge, lightweight, dependable. Never tried diving with one, but now I know not to.

Comments about West Marine Solar Hybrid Flashlight:

I bought two of these flashlights fully expecting them to work as advertised regarding claims of waterproof to 80 feet. Both of the flashlights filled with water. The first light filled with water and I thought "oh - must have been my fault - not the first one I have done that to". However, the second one I went to extra measures to be sure were correctly waterproofed (screwed down firmly but not tightly) and it also quickly filled with water. Both units were destroyed.
