Comments about West Marine VHF480 Fixed VHF Radio—White:

Bought this product 3 seasons ago. I typically keep my boat in storage in the south, so there's not a lot of harsh weather and the radio only gets wet when I wash the boat. This year, I turned the radio on and realized it needs to be replaced. Speaker doesn't work anymore.

If you decide to buy this unit, realize that it does have a MMEI or some type of coastguard tracker. I wish I could have either disabled it, so it would keep popping up every time I turned the unit on. I use the VHF for marina calls or occasional weather reports. Your situation might be different, but if so, I'd recommend a better (more dependable unit).

        Best Uses

Comments about West Marine VHF480 Fixed VHF Radio—White:

Numbers and lettering to small when changing channels, also to busy with the scrolling list of channels. You just can't read it moving on a boat. Can't read screen unless you are looking almost straight on. Will I buy another one?.......No!

Comments about West Marine VHF480 Fixed VHF Radio—White:

This unit was used for two winters in Baja before the speaker gave out. Had it replaced and the unit worked again for two months. This year, I'm told the receive module on the motherboard is burned out. I'll try another reputable brand next time.
