WEST MARINE
Waterproof Dry Paks for Electronics

Security for your valuable handheld electronics

Protect your valuable electronics from water, dirt, dust and impact. These tough new polyurethane waterproof cases seal hermetically, are difficult to tear or puncture and they float if dropped overboard. VHF and cell phone users can talk and listen through the clear case with very little reduction in volume or clarity. They are pliable and soft so you can easily access keypads or even touch screens like the iQue's from Garmin.

totally killed my cellphone when I slipped and fell at the boat launch. That one was my fault. Otter case protects well from impact but does NOTHING to protect from water. I knew better, just got careless. For cell phone number 2 I got the West Marine Dry Pak, medium 5inx6in. A Galaxy 4 IN THE OTTER BOX will just fit in this one. I can still make calls and even use the camera but the quality is lower cause I'm shooting thru plastic. It comes with a lanyard that will fit around my neck and secure with a slider so it does not come off. Might be handy in an emergency so my phone will be dry and usable and wont leave me. I tested the seal and it seals quickly with repeatable results. Did stay closed tight in the sink test. Did float with the phone in it. I am not sure how well it will hold up after lots of use. The only concern I have is that the plastic clamp has hollow areas on its inside. If you plan on getting it wet a lot and then going in and out of this thing you can get small amounts of water in it. I carry a dry box on my boat for everything else but a cellphone needs the extra protection and this will do a good job.

Too small for the VHF85 Handheld Radio even though the West Marine Website recommends the small size. Unless you plan on removing the belt clip mounting knob/screw on the backside, go with the medium size.

Otherwise, looks like a great product.

      Pros: waterproof, easy to use.

Cons: the supplied carabiner broke just trying to attach it to the device. Luckily the string it also comes with did not. I will be going back to exchange said broken part but the carabiner should be stronger.

Comments about Waterproof Dry Paks for Electronics:

I purchased a dry pack to keep boat, trailer, and insurance information in since Arizona requires that original boat registration be carried when on the water at all times. The vinyl is heavy and appears strong so it should last a long time.

I bought this product to keep my valuables safe while I paddle board, kayak, or just relax on the beach. It keeps everything dry and clean while still being able to use my phone. Before I bought my dry pak - I had been hesitant to bring my phone out on the water with me and missed out on taking post-card-perfect photos and getting in touch with others. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to stay in touch with reality while escaping for the day!
