Excellent pump, but installation caution

    Cons

      Best Uses

I have used these excellent pumps for years, and I highly recommend them. But beware: The pump is not sealed. If it is installed below the level of the water (tank for fresh water, sea level for salt) then a failure of the pump diaphragm (this does eventually happen) will result in a flow of water into your bilge limited only by the capacity of your tank or the size of the ocean, as the case may be. A solution is to loop the intake above waterline and install a pin-hole siphon break.

Comments about Gusher MKIII Cabinet Mount Galley Foot Pump:

I bought this pump to help make my wife save power and water on our small cruising sailboat. It installed easy, pumps enough water to do the job and doesn't drain the battery's. It's a lot better than the hand pumps we also have because it frees both hands.

Comments about Gusher MKIII Cabinet Mount Galley Foot Pump:

I installed it as a backup, but it works so well that
I use it instead of the electric pressure system.
