Comments about Rust-Free Aluminum LPG Cylinders:

You should check pricing for this cylinder at other outlets if you have the chance. The exact same cylinder was available at other outlets for 1/2 what West Marine charged. Unfortunately for me I was not able to take advantage of the lower prices due to time and stocking constraints.

Comments about Rust-Free Aluminum LPG Cylinders:

For use on a camper or a boat, or anywhere. Steel is cheap but it rusts, looks unsightly, and has questionable longevity. I have dozens of old steel propane bottles. I'm gradually phasing them out for aluminum. These are a bit lighter to carry around than steel, and hold up beautifully in a marine environment. You can leave them outside forever with no change in appearance or functionality. Aluminum oxidizes and leaves a dull finish protecting the underlying metal. I also prefer aluminum to the even lighter composite tanks now being sold because composite tanks can catch fire and burn. Imagine a composite tank catching on fire and then releasing all that propane--a scary thought. Aluminum is both tough, lasting, and light. These aluminum bottles can be polished to brilliance, if you like, and make a gorgeous addition to a yacht or camper. Although they would need to be repolished every year or two to maintain a mirror like finish. Leaving them the natural dull look is still attractive compared to rusted steel. I like the fact that these tanks are available in a number of sizes. Some boats are designed for the smallest size and those are very easy to carry, on or off a boat via dinghy. I find the 20 lbs tanks a bit awkward, and harder to carry, and rough on my aging knees if I have to walk a lengthy distance to find a fill while sailing in the islands. NOTE: Do not use a horizontal tank vertically, or a vertical tank horizontally! Choose the right tank for your intended use.
