Product Description

An extreme example of how durable and insulated a cooler can be, Yeti coolers are built to last. Quality starts with strong, seamless, roto-molded, polyethylene construction, which unlike the “blow-molded” construction of some other brands, is the same as that employed in the nearly bullet-proof hulls of today’s whitewater kayaks. Ice keeping ability is excellent, with 2" of insulation in the walls and 3" in the lids, which include a freezer-style sealing gasket to keep the cold in and the heat out. Details include fail-safe, molded-in T-latch keepers and full-length self-stopping hinge that can’t hyper extend and break. Other outstanding features include non-slip, non-marking rubber feet to keep the cooler where you place it, recessed drain plug with rubber washer for leak-proof reliability, molded in tie-down points, textured grip handles with nylon rope attachment to make carrying easier and dry-goods rack to keep your favorite munchies dry.

  • Capacity: 100 cans or 159lb. of ice
  • Dimensions: 45"L x 19 1/2"W x 21 1/2"H
  • Material: Roto-molded polyethylene shell; Injected polyurethane insulation
  • Latches: T-Rex rubber latches with molded-in keepers
  • Hinges: Full-length, self-stopping integrated hinge
  • Drain Plug: Gasketed, screw-in plug designed to allow water to drain when partially opened

I have the Roadie 20, the 65 Tundra, and the tundra 45. We go up to the Canadian wilderness camp on islands for 10-5 days, and for 30 days a year. You can check my details under the Yeti 65 review for more detail. The Tundra 45 works great for 2 people for 4-5 days along with the Roadie and no dry ice. The temps range around 80-90 degrees the Roadie stays in the boat to thaw out food, and keep lunch cold. Anything longer than 4 days 4 people...the Tundra 65 & Roadie comes into play with 10 pounds of dry ice, and acts like a freezer to keep things from going bad. If we do 8+ days we add the 45 Tundra as a back up, with another 5 pounds of dry ice...to the Roadie and the 65 for good measure. Just a recap we initially used 100 pounds of dry ice- 60 pounds on up graded coolers that would last 3-4 years each. Now we are down to 15 pounds, and substantially smaller, and more efficient coolers. The Yeti's are heavier empty, but lighter, more efficient, and less bulky full. Which is a great trade off. Enjoy !!! Thanks for your time, AJ

I love a lot of things about this cooler but it is really heavy, even when it is empty. I am a very healthy 53year old woman and I can carry it myself when it's empty but it's a struggle. Th customer service, however, is five-star!

Superior cooler!

Comments about YETI Tundra 160 Cooler, White:

I just wish this had been available 40 years ago, because I'm 63 and it's obviously going to outlive me. Examples of its capabilities: armed only with a single gas-station bag of ice and not pre-chilled, it kept my food cold in the back of my truck for two days in the desert near Death Valley where the daytime temp was 118F. In less extreme heat, that bag of ice can last up to a week. It's a bit of a splurge but when you consider all the ice you don't have to buy and the food that isn't spoiled, it will eventually pay for itself. I now use it instead of a fridge in my truck camper, because it sits there silently cooling vs. using power and going "thrum" in the night. It also makes a good seat, and I use it to step up to my over-cabin bed.

It's worth it!!

By Rmacdon

Comments about YETI Tundra 160 Cooler, White:

I just returned from a fly fishing trip to the Green River and was amazed by this cooler. I filled the 65 Tundra on Wed 6am and had Ice still in it on Sunday 7pm. Everyone was impressed with the coolers ability to hold ice that long. One friend made a comment that the amount of money you save on ice over a 5 year time would pay for 2 coolers!!! It is heavy fully loaded so I used the Yeti Soft Shell to transport drinks and food to the river. It was a great combo and well worth the investment. Pros: 1)Plenty of space 2)Ice for days 3)Built to take abuse 4)Last Cooler you will buy Cons: 1)It is heavy fully loaded, you might need two people to carry it. Go smaller version if weight is an issue for you. I also have the Rodie 20 and it's perfect weight with handle.

Ice melted fast

By nakia087

Comments about YETI Tundra 160 Cooler, White:

Did a test run and the ice bottles I had melted in just over 24 hours... Was hoping for a longer last. Disappointed because of the name and how expensive it was.

Great size!

Comments about YETI Tundra 160 Cooler, White:

Bought this for my boyfriend and he couldn't be happier! This size is perfect for us, the extra depth is what sold me versus the 45. And it seriously keeps things cool FOREVER! Even if left out in the sun. Way better than any other cooler.

Another Great YETI cooler

By Luna Sea

from La Paz, Mexico

Comments about YETI Tundra 160 Cooler, White:

I bought a Tundra 65 a while ago for our sailboat in Mexico, we use it for storage of ice and vegetables for the longer voyages we take. I have never had a cooler that still has any ice left after a week and am consistently impressed with how well this cooler keeps ice for the whole time. this means we do not have to use our genset to keep food cold and we have fresh veggies and cold beer the whole time (whose kidding about the veggies) we have cold beer though. I liked this cooler so much we bought another that we keep closed for the first 4-5 days and replenish the ice all around.

I bought this cooler two months ago. The insulation is insane! This is the heaviest cooler I've owned. Most of the added weight is because of the top notch insulation. Great work guys!!
