Shop Anchor Deck Pipes at West Marine
After a long passage, sailors look forward to a familiar sound. This is the loud rattling of a boat’s anchor chain as it passes through a hawse pipe—otherwise referred to as a deck pipe or anchor chain pipe. West Marine offers round and oval deck pipes to accommodate a wide range of boats, from small craft up to large commercial vessels.
What is the purpose of deck pipes?
Deck pipes provide a passage through which an anchor’s chain and rope run while passing into or out of a boat’s chain locker. Deck pipes include a cap that prevents water from entering the chain locker. Some deck pipe caps are hinged, while others include a lanyard to prevent their loss.
Where are deck pipes installed?
Deck pipes are usually installed on the foredeck of boats just aft of the boat’s anchor roller. Some boats, those that utilize a stern anchor, may also have a deck pipe at the stern that leads to a chain locker below it.
What are deck pipes made of?
West Marine offers chain pipes made of stainless steel, chrome plated brass, and for light-duty use, high-impact plastic.
