I used this filler to patch small scratches and depressions in the top coat of a 1970's era fiberglass kayak. It firms up fast, bonds well, and allows paper thin sanding. Mix in very small quantities - think egg size or less. Wear a respirator while applying and use it outside though as it is powerful (hint not good for your health while it off-gasses). Fine dust should be vacuumed while sanding and wear a dust mask for that. You don't want this to be your last project!

I used this product to fill in the gaps that were left when I dremeled out the spider cracks int he white gel coat. When i was an amateur I used bondo and then quickly learned that stuff should just be left of the shelf. It adsorbs water and dries gray which requires a thick layer of white gel coat to cover the gray. The Formula 27 is advertised as a fairing compound to fill in gaps in gel coat and fiberglass that cures white. The color of the material out of the can is basically white however, when it cured, the product turned gray. Customer service at Evercoat is horrible and gave me outside sales reps to call who did not even work for the company in years! Talking to anybody else in the company told me the product cure white and should be a thick gel coat on top of it. One person at the company was telling me to apply a Barrier coat over it first! So that mean this stuff is really not waterproof? That same person then told me it cures a few shades darker than white but still white. I guess they meant gray because gray because that has white in it?! In the end West Marine did me a solid and let me return the product but also overnight-ed a few gallons of Cab-O-Sil so I can make a putty with it when mixing with gel coat. I did have to spend time to re grind out the crack and do the repair the right way.

I bought this product to patch holes and gouges in my fiberglass. The product has a thick almost toothpaste like consistency. Great for vertical or overhead applications. Product hardened in less than 10 minutes. You will need to apply gel coat over this product if you want it to be waterproof.

              Comments about Formula 27 Filler:

I used this to patch some holes and cracks on my scout. I then sanded it down and put fiberglass tape over it and along the hull for more durability. It holds and I use this a good but on stuff around the house.

only bad this is is that once you mix the hardener in you have about 10 minutes tops.

I have used this product extensively to repair wood damage. Adheres well to wood, files well with "cheese grater" and sands easily. Sets up really fast so work quickly.
