Very nice product and I definatley will recommend this to friends. Its sleek design adds a nice look to my trailer. The ease of selecting foward, reverse or nuetral with the turn of a knob is genious. No trying to figure out some little lever and nearly cutting your fingers off. Only problem I had (and it may just have been with my trailer) is that I had to trim a 1/4" off the back side of the housing for it to fit on my winch base plate and clear the vertical post. No biggie. The other thing is that the product says it will bolt in the existing standard bolt hole...not true. The holes on the winch housing slide in and out; with the spacing to the maximum spacing it was still about a 1/8 of an inch short on matching the standard hole pattern. So I did have to drill another hole. Again no biggie.

Prodcut is great in my opinion. I have a 1986 Shorline trailer so it may just be that specific trailer, that I had to make those fabrications.

The gears would pop and the boat would start sliding back. We had the largest winch available and the thing took two people to pull up. One to hold a rope around the trailer for when the winch slipped and the boat went backwards. took it right back to W.M.

Comments about F2 Manual Trailer Winches:

The product is as advertised. However, the instructions on its use have nothing to do with this product. The owns manual was written when a few features were offered, but had to be removed due to safety issues. One being that there is not any "free wheeling " setting on the selection knob nor a third position on the handle. The unit will fit the old holes of a factory installed boat Fulton trailer wench, however if the factory unit was installed as far back on the trailer wench stand as possible the new Fulton cannot fit because the Select Knob takes up more space. I had to redress the mounting holes. As an aside: the reason the unit falls under the difficult to install category beside redrawing the mounting holes is the unless you tighten the lock washer until they hold the bolts in place, they will move every time to try to set the unit in place.

This winch is awesome made my boat trailer look new!! I had to replace my old winch after it stripped out trying to load my boat after cranking batteries died. It was easy to install, and looks great.

Easy to install. Much better than the winch that came with the trailer. Haven't needed the two speed yet, but it's nice to know its there if I need it. Holes matched the old Fulton. Very happy with product.

Comments about F2 Manual Trailer Winches:

This unit was a little tricky to install. The mounting bolts were difficult to keep in place during installation. Also during the instalation of the handle there is a metal tube that the handle bolt goes through. That tube is easy to distort partly because it is not a solid pipe and partly because it isn't quite the correct length. If you distort that tube then the handle does not roll corectly.

The winch is made out of a solid casting and has real gears, not stamped stacks of metal impersonating gears.

A bit pricey! Boat loads a bit easier than original equipment (1600 v 1400 lb rated) on Tracker trailer. Not sure it's any more durable than original equipment. Only time will tell.

We have a couple boats, we trailer a 24 foot Baja Islander, using it for water sports and a ferry to the big boats on the water - anchored. The new winch, makes launching the Islander a little easier and enhances the overal appearance of our Heritage trailer and boat package. We have had several people walk up, and ask us about the new winch, and what it is all about?
