Comments about Remanufactured VHF150 Handheld VHF Radio:

I was surprised at the quality I got for only $99! It's remanufactured so that means if there were any bugs they have been cured. The disploay is easy to read and the controls are intuitive. It appears to be very rugged but I've only had it a month so time will tell. I would buy this again. I didn't give it five stars simply because I haven't had it very long.

Comments about Remanufactured VHF150 Handheld VHF Radio:

Welcome to the marvels of software defined radio. This thing is small computer connected to a VHF circuit. Fantastic features, stands up to salt water, small and compact.

I can't attest to it's range, though you're always going to be limited by a small antenna and 5w output. The USCG will be able to communicate with you anyway because of their transmit power and antenna arrays.
