Comments about Hoister Four-Point Lift System:

This product works great. I am using it to suspend a canoe from the ceiling of my garage. The ceiling has a lot of obstacles but this system allows me to work around them. I can think of a couple improvements, one would be to lag the pig tail screws and bolt them to the 2X6 boards instead of simply screwing them in (just for extra security), the other would be to specify in the instructions that the release cleat should be placed in a position that will allow you to pull directly in line with the supporting screw (I should have moved mine to the side about 10"). As it is, being short, I have to run the line over the canoe and release from the end of the canoe furthest from the cleat (to get a straight line). Once the canoe is halfway down, I can then move more to the side and rely on the length of my arm to lift the cleat.

Comments about Harken 4:1 Mechanical Advantage, 90lb. Max. Working Load:

I currently have two Harken lift kits, one for a touring kayak, and the other for a surfski. Both boats are long - about 19 feet - so as you can imagine, I totally regain the space in my garage with them stowed up and out of the way. The kits work smoothly and hold the boats securely. Very easy to use! The ceiling installation may be the hardest part, but once up well worth the effort.

Comments about Hoister Four-Point Lift System:

Needed to make space in my garage so installed the lift system to get my Sunfish sailboat off the floor. Easy to follow directions for installation. Took about 4 hours or so by myself to do the complete installation and fine tune it where the boat was level when raised. When installing, make sure you manually extend block and tackle part of system from eye bolt on wall to organizer pulley assembly where four ropes pass through as that will provide maximum vertical lift capacity. Easy to raise and lower the boat, but recommend wearing gloves.

Comments about Harken 3:1 Mechanical Advantage, 60lb. Max. Working Load:

We have a very large artificial Christmas tree that needed to be stored. We tried cheaper ceiling hoists and they failed. This did the trick, the tree is hanging in the garage rafters and is out of our way until next Christmas. We wrapped a truck bed net around the tree bag and attached net to the hoist. Should work for any variety of items that need to stored, not just watercraft.

This is a great hoist. I use it to hoist my 10 ft. 100 pound dinghy up and out of the way in my garage. The installation seemed daunting at first but easy to follow instructions made it go quite smoothly. Works like a charm. I can't remember the last time I was so pleased with a product.

I installed the 4-point version of this system in about 3 hours. Due to the clearance about my garage door to the ceiling, I couldn't install the cross-beams on the garage ceiling. I needed to put cross beams in my garage attic to support the load of my kayak. But once I was done with that, it only took about an hour to put the system into place. It works great. The kayak comes down easily, and is easy to stow. I have about 1" of clearance when the garage door goes up! It makes great use of what is otherwise wasted space. I would definitely recommend this product. I'm actually about to buy another one for my other kayak.

Comments about Harken 8:1 Mechanical Advantage, 200lb. Max. Working Load:

We purchased two of these to store our kayak and canoe overhead in our garage. The product is very well constructed and the directions were clear. The boats store almost flush to the ceiling when hoisted which provides plenty of clearance below. The only difficulty we had was getting the straps and pulleys adjusted properly to ensure a smooth hoist. This was much easier to do on the second boat after having learned from the first. Both were installed in less than 2.5 hrs. I highly recommend this product.
