Igloo really cheaped out by selling a so called premium cooler and not including a tray for items to stay off the ice and the cheap coolers have trays. Next time I will consider a Yeti even if it is very expensive it is a better made item. They do not even sell a tray for this size cooler, bad marketing Igloo.

I bought the 162qt from West Marine two years ago and the second time I used it the stainlees wire lid stop pulled out of the crimps. I was able to re-crimp it and it held for two years.Recently the same thing happened but I was unable to fix it.I notced the newer marine coolers have a heavier wire and a thick lead crimp around a bushing which looks much sturdier.Obviously they knew it was an infrerior design and changed it. I went back to West Marine and was told they could get every replacement part but the one I need. They recommended contacting Igloo directly which I did and was told West Marine is the only dealer who recieved that type of lid stop and they don't make replacement parts for it. So basically if you buy the West Marine cooler you cant get a replacement lid stop. Now I expect the hinges will go since the lid opens too far.

        Comments about Marine Elite Coolers:

Going to return it because one of the catches fails to engage, so have no comments on ice-retention, etc.

The flip-open part of the catches are stainless steel, but they pop onto simple plastic nipples. Feels neither secure nor particularly efficient. I bought the larger model which advertises 'rubber gaskets'; however the gasket turns out to be a one-piece rubber strip about 1/4" wide. Hardly merits the name.

        Delivery was fine.

My wife bought this cooler for me for our boat. We loaded up at noon and stayed out until 6 that night. I kept the cooler on my porch in the shade over night into the next day. By 6PM the 2nd day 20lb bag of ice was melted. Buy a Yeti

Comments about Igloo Marine Elite Coolers:

you need two hands to close the lid- try to use one hand- its maddening! the problem is the latches get hung up on the nipple that they latch to- before they can latch to it, keeping the lid about an inch open. flick one side off, and the other side sticks. you can go back and forth all day, it wont close until you use two hands (one on each latch). Im returning it. Igloo used to be the standard- not anymore with oversights like this.

Comments about Igloo Marine Elite Coolers:

I got the 94 QT to mount in my inflatable boat. West had the best sale price on it out there, which is not always the case but true on this item. I have found it to be very sturdy and does its job well. For my uses, I cannot justify the really expensive Yetis, Engel, etc. For someone who really needs "bear proof" and to keep ice for a week I suppose its worth it. This one is perfect for inshore fishing and is sturdy enough that I installed a swivel plate seat on it. Also the staff at the local west marine store in Woburn, MA were super helpful. They checked that it was in stock for me when I called and put one aside for me.

I bought the 54 qt because it fit my leaning post, I'am very unhappy with the cooler, it's advertised as a 4 day cooler it's more like 4 hours, the only way this cooler will hold ice for 4 days is in freezing temps I did notice the lid rim and the rim of the cooler body do not match up it does not seal !!! this is the worst Igloo cooler I've ever bought
