Comments about VC 17m Extra with Biolux:

VC-17 is the only paint we have used on our race boat for 30 yrs. Easy to touch up to recover the following year.
Does not keep "all" growth off without occasional cleaning.
Very expensive since it became popular.

Comments about VC 17m Extra with Biolux:

I've had 3 powerboats & 4 sailboats. 1st thing I do, is strip off all that old caked up bottom paint, which is usually chipping off anyway. Get down to the bare gelcoat, then just apply VC17. It's so thin, there's NO build up even after multiple years. It's like a teflon frying pan, even though some growth occurs, it easily wipes clean. However, because it's acetone based, you have to work real quick or it will evaporate in your paint pan, right in front of your eyes. I keep my roller pan covered with a sheet of tin foil to slow the evaporation during the job. It's a bit pricy, but well worth the extra $ in time savings. I'm probably shooting myself in the foot by writing this review. I race sailboats and consider this bottom paint a speed advantage. I shouldn't be spilling the beans to my competitors, but, then again, they all use VC17 anyway. It also saves fuel on powerboats.

Comments about VC 17m Extra with Biolux:

I found that by using a funnel to add the bronze and paint to an empty plastic soda bottle it was easier to keep the product well mixed and to pour out as needed. the small foam roller proved to be the best application tool. Hull speed improved about .5 kt over standard bottom paint.

Comments about VC 17m Extra with Biolux:

I have used VC17 Extra for a couple of seasons now on my freshwater sailboat. It goes on quickly and does a good job of keeping the crud off the bottom. In the fall I can just hose it off and it will be ready for another coat in the spring.

Comments about VC 17m Extra with Biolux:

Used on a sailboat in freshwater lake for 6 mo/year. 2 coats, very easy to apply. Very good protection for most of the season. Pulled and washed the boat in late summer to visit other lakes. After returning to my home lake, the hull developed a lot of slime before the end of the season. Where the trailer bunks rubbed the bottom, the gel-coat began to show through. VC17 is much softer than the adjacent white epoxy striping, and you have to be careful when waxing the freeboard not to pull streaks of VC17 up onto the upper hull.
