We're second year boaters. Went all of last season with a hand pump toilet in our 28 foot cruiser. As a woman, I always hated the feeling that the toilet was never working as i felt it should, it never felt clean to me. "Someone" [me] put a small amount of paper towel in the toilet and it [miraculously] clogged the toilet which resulted in my better half breaking the toilet trying to pump out the clog. After internet research (youtube video of Jabsco Lite), we bought the Jabsco Lite and installed it last weekend. Because of the issues we already had, it was a LOT of work to install, but the end product is WONDERFUL! I LOVE THIS TOILET! It flushes with enough water and gusto to really get the job done! And it looks GREAT! Couldn't be more pleased!

Don't buy this toilet. It has a design flaw. I had 2 fail. When my SECOND lite flush failed I called Jabsco. They told me this toilet has a known problem and that many of them fail. Per Jabsco the problem is that the belt and gear assembly are not strong enough to handle the torque of the motor. They are currently redesigning the toilet and hope to have a new one on the market sometime next year. In the meantime, if yours breaks, they will send you a repair kit but those parts may also fail as they are the same weak design as the parts being replaced. If you don't believe this…call Jabsco. With this said, I appreciate that Jabsco did not hesitate to tell me about the problem. I have been using Jabsco products for years and in all that time this is the first of their products that has given me trouble. Note another buyer had the same problem in a different review on this page.

Comments about Lite Flush Electric Toilet:

I had one of these units installed in two vessels (2) , one in CT and one on FL . Both failed with very little use. I loved the design and hate pumping the manual version so thought it was a great upgrade although not inexpensive by any means. I even went back to West Marine bought a third one, and of course because there are no parts avalible someone had stolen parts off of the unit in which I didn't discover until I installed it. Total failure of a product period.

Comments about Lite Flush Electric Toilet:

I live aboard my sailboat in Mexico 6 months out of the year, so the marine toilet gets a LOT of use. What I like about this toilet is how quiet it is, and it works great. HOWEVER, when I first installed this toilet, it didn't work well. It wouldn't completely empty on the first flush and would splash around if you left the lid open while flushing. I found out, the reason for this was restrictions in the 1.5" discharge hose. If your discharge hose has any mineral build-up, you should replace it when installing this toilet. If you do that, it works like a champ. Regarding the reliability issue, I've used mine 6 times daily for about 6 months and haven't had a problem. I've spoken to Jabsco and they are supposedly working on a new design to solve this problem. Within a year, Jabsco should have replacement parts with the new design available. Meanwhile Jabsco has sent me spare parts (for free) so that if I do have a breakdown I can be back up and running. One great thing is that you can access all of the internal components of the toilet from about, without unbolting it from the floor. Remove two small screws, and the entire ceramic bowl lifts off revealing the two pumps (raw water and macerator). So this unit is very easy to service.

This toilet never does a complete flush it needs to pump out and add the second water at the same time like a regular toilet. Two flushes negates the low water usage. Trying to find belt on line failed. Now I will have to phone wish me luck.

This thing looks great but the foot switch leaves no control, one touch to fill, one touch to empty, sometimes. When you flush the toilet with the lid open, watch out! When you flush with the lid closed
you end up with a huge mess to clean up inside and out, it splashes everywhere.
                          Good concept, bad execution.

Installed in my 28.5 Sailboat as a replacement for the original manual head. Easy to install. Easy to hook up to onboard fresh water. Design of the base makes it much easier to clean around on the deck. Flush and macerator are not quiet, not quite as loud as an airliner head. Maybe a little pricey, but worth the money.

The macerator in the head is quite enthusiastic. Once you get used to that, it is really great and a tremendous replacement for the Jabsco pump handle head. It does fit perfectly. The bolt holes are the same, etc. The foot switch takes up the space the pump mechanism used to take up, albeit just on the floor.
The only down side to the head is that you will need to run a separate 12 volt line for the head with a separate breaker.
