I have had this pump on my 41 ft sailboat for over 15 years with no trouble at all. Now it just quit
but I believe something not intended was flushed and jammed the impellar and shorted out the motor.
I am very carefull about what goes through this pump but something must have slipped

Hope the new pump works as hard and long. Will post a comment when it is installed

Another over priced product designed to provide marginal performance for very limited time. THe 4 studs that hold it together invariably corrode. The impeller has a 6 month life expectancy. If you use it you "wear it out" if you dont then it loses its flexability. Nothing is more satisfying then the clean up job required when the studs corrode and the boat is sprayed with holding tank content. THey know about this problem. But refuse to upgrade or modify the design. Maybe they should do my next clean up job to find the motivation they need.

This is the 2nd Jabsco Macerator I've replaced in two years due to corroded studs. Just started spewing holding tank contents into the bilge creating a fabulous odor. Fun clean up. At over $200 a pop, I would NOT recommend Jabsco.

Products used approx. Once ev. 2 months since we get regular pump outs. Considering that, think i should not need to replace annually.

        Comments about Jabsco Macerator Pumps:

Macerator failed in less than 6 months! Two bolts broke on the forward waste tank pump and when started it spewed sewage in the forward stateroom, and the smell was the first signal something was wrong. I am VERY disappointed because I use a lot of JABSCO products but quality seems to be going downhill. I am a cruiser on a Hunter 410. Cleanup was nasty!! Very nasty. I will have my wife watch the pumpout on the stern waste tank. We can't trust the pump!!!!

          Comments about Jabsco Macerator Pumps:

Brand new boat with 2 Jabsco Macerators obtained from West Marine St. Petersburg. Both had brass studs break in two after just a few weeks of use. Changed out the brass studs with stainless steel 10-32 threaded rod. Will see if that helps.

              Comments about Jabsco Macerator Pumps:

This pump is terrible. We are on the second pump in as many years. Only used as a light duty holding tank pumpout, using fresh water only. Both times the bolts have rotted thru and the macerator housing has fallen off, leaving quite a mess! The bolts should be separately sealed and the gaskets should NOT be paper. This seems like planned obsolescence on Jabsco's part, as I have not seen a design change in years. It will take quite a big change to convince me to replace with another Jabsco.

                Comments about Jabsco Macerator Pumps:

I agreed with all the negitive comments by the others boaters. I have purchased at least 4 of these over the last 20 years. Design has never been improved. The brass does always coridoe and break. You would think the company would do something about it! West Marine should at least inform customers to just how poor this product is!

                Comments about Macerator Pumps:

Had the boat yard install the macerator plus other items when I purchased my boat so it was installed professionally. The pump was used sparingly, yet it fails every time. It is most certainly NOT self priming nor is it rust resistant. We should be able to return it full for a full refund.

                    Comments about Macerator Pumps:

I have gone through THREE of these pumps. All failed is a short amount of time. The bolts rusted through and each of the pumps has failed. They were purchased by someone else and unfortunately were not installed until after the warranty expired. I used them for a MSDD holding tank pumpout. And they are far too expensive for a simple 12 macerator pump.

                    Comments about Macerator Pumps:

We use this pump to empty a 25 gallon holding tank about once a week. They consistently fail after about six months of service. The repair kit is $54 and on several occasions the brass studs have corroded through and broken when trying to install the repair kit. For the price of the parts you would think the pump would last longer.
