Lubricant Oil
West Marine offers a complete selection of lubricants for your outboard or inboard engine.
Outboard and inboard engines require lubricants to keep them working smoothly. West Marine offers a selection of marine oils and greases to meet these requirements. Types of marine lubricants include lower unit lube, 4-stroke engine oil, 2-cycle outboard oil and specialty oils.
Lower Unit Lube
Lower unit lube is gear oil formulated for use in outboard and stern drive lower units which are underwater during operation. Because of the exposure to water, lower unit lube has to be very resistant to breakdown from water. It also must be periodically changed. West Marine offers a choice of lower unit gear oil pumps to accomplish this process without spilling. Common lower unit lubricants found at West Marine include Hi-Viscosity 80W-90, Hypoid 90W, and Type C. West Marine sells lower unit lubes under the West Marine, Quicksilver and Sierra brands.
Engine Oil
Engine oil is circulated in inboard engines and four-stroke outboards to lubricate the internal parts. West Marine sells premium engine oils under the West Marine, Pennzoil, Chevron, Quicksilver, Shell and Sierra brands. Popular formulations include Chevron's line of Delo motor oils for gasoline and diesel engines and Shell's line of Rotella oil for diesel engines.
2-Stroke Oils
2-cycle gasoline engines and outboards require special oil that is mixed in with the gasoline for lubrication. When shopping for 2-stroke oil, look for the TC-W3 designation, which denotes oil that is suitable for outboard engine use. West Marine sells TC-W3 oil under the West Marine, Quicksilver, Evin-Johnson and Sierra brands.
Specialty Oils
Specialty oils include hydraulic oil, power steering fluid and power trim and tilt fluid all of which West Marine sells.
