Learn MoreShop Network Sensors at West Marine
If you are looking for a GPS antenna, GPS heading sensor, video camera, or a satellite radio receiver for use with your multifunction display (MFD), you have landed on the right page. These devices fall into a category of peripheral devices referred to as network sensors. Network sensors are devices that can be connected to multifunction displays (MFDs) to expand their capabilities. Following are some common types of network sensors that can be used with MFDs. Links are provided for types of products that do not appear on this page.
GPS Sensors
These sensors provide accurate positioning data to the MFD, enabling precise navigation and chartplotting functionalities.
GPS Heading Sensors
The Raymarine MSC™ 10 that appears on this page can be used improve the accuracy of GPS heading information for boats moving at high speeds. It can also be used as the primary sensor for autopilots and all your onboard systems that need accurate heading information. Video Cameras Video cameras can be connected to MFDs to enhance security, make docking your boat easier or to provide visibility to spaces that are not visible from the helm. Raymarine's CAM210 Augmented Reality Pack combines their CAM210 IP video camera with their AR200 device to provide enhanced on-water perception to their Axiom line of multifunction displays.
Sonar Modules
Sonar modules can be connected to MFDs to display underwater information, including fish location, water depths, and underwater structures.
GPS & Radar
GPS and radar can be integrated with MFDs to provide enhanced situational awareness by detecting and displaying your position and the distance and bearing to nearby vessels, obstacles, and weather conditions.
Weather Modules
Weather modules, like the WM-4 SiriusXM® Satellite Weather Module can provide weather reports to your MFD, allowing you to keep abreast of changing weather conditions.
AIS Transceivers
AIS transceivers can be interfaced with an MFD for viewing information about nearby vessels, such as their positions, speeds, and other relevant data for improved safety and collision avoidance.
Thermal Sensors
Thermal sensors or cameras can be connected to MFDs to provide thermal imaging, enhancing night vision capabilities and aiding in the detection of objects or people in low-light conditions.
Need help?
These are just a few examples of network sensors that can be used with multifunction displays. The specific options and compatibility may vary depending on the brand and model of both the MFD and the sensors. For help with selecting network sensors for your MFD, we recommended you consult the manufacturer's documentation, speak with a West Marine crew member at one of our stores or call West Marine Product Advice at 1(800) 262-8464 and press Option 2.
