Product Description

Perfect for oil changes and ridding excess fluid from hard to reach places, the Oil Extractor utilizes a powerful pump that creates a vacuum so that continuous pumping is not necessary. Usage is easy, just insert one of the included extension tubes into your engine’s dipstick tube, attach extraction tubes and give the cylinder up to 15 pumps - and watch the cylinder fill up! Next, press the pressure relief valve and then pour the extracted oil into an appropriate container. System includes, foot brace, extraction tubes and garden hose adaptor. 2.85qt. model includes outboard clip for easy 4-stroke outboard oil changes.

I bought this at my local West Marine store to change the oil in my inboard Yanmar 2QM15 diesel engine. It worked great! Its says outboard motor on box because it has a bracket to hook onside outboard motor to hang pump on. It's not needed for inboard. Anyway, just put the small hose down the dipstick tube. Attach hose to pump. Then pump it about 6 or 8 times and it starts sucking the old oil right on out the engine and into the pump's tank. My engine only uses just over two quarts of oil and it took about 5 minutes or so to extract it all. I did have to pump it a couple more times about halfway through but that's it. I ran engine for around 5 or 10 min before to heat up oil. Instructions said warm oil makes it pump faster so I just done that. Very satisfied, this was a great buy!

I used this pump for oil changes and also to pump water from nooks and crannies. It worked well but lost suction after about one year. I tried to get parts to replace the felt "pistons" that appear to have worn out but was told no parts are available.

Pump may be ok for oil but not for other fluids.

Comments about Manual Oil Changer 2.85 Quart:

I found this oil changer clogs easily. If your oil isn't hot it may not suck anything at all. The tubes are so stiff they are hard to control and clean. You may end up with oil every where.

Tube is so small that it clogs easily. I tried to use it to empty the sump on my oil cooled saw, and only removed about a quart before clogging.

Used this item when racing my C&C sailboat in the caribbean. Retired from racing and now this product is perfect for extracting oil from my home lawn mover. Does it in seconds. And makes oil change clean, fast and causes one to want to follow maintenance schedule.

We bought this unit to change the oil in standby generators. We used it 2 times and it worked satisfactorily. When we tried to use it again it didn't work. Hopefully, it was just a defective unit and it doesn't happen again.

                      Service and delivery comments:

Fast delivery and defective unit was replaced without questions.

Bought this to do my first oil change on a Yanmar 2GM. The pump is durable. Can't see through very well but you can still see the level of oil in the container. Works very well taking about 15-20 min to empty the oil from the engine.

This oil changer gets used solely for extracting oil from my daily driver. Since I do not have room to store ramps or jacks, this fills the void perfectly and allows me to change the oil in my car without the use of any tools or lifting the car (besides removing and replacing the vehicle's oil filter.)
