Even though it had a couple of negative reviews through this site, I took a chance and bought one. Knowing that I could return it if it did not work, I used none of the wires or crimp connectors supplied. My test set up worked, I got five channels at the dock. Realizing I had only done a auto scan and not a auto/add scan, I ran the scan again and got 13 channels. This unit works well for my application. All the required parts are provided and there was no issues with assembly. Maybe the other folks that tried it and left negative reviews did not use the power unit. This is required to make it work. I'm happy!

There is a serious design flaw. I even talked to the company about it. There is only one nylon hexagonal nut that secures the base to the top antenna. Mine is mounted on on the radar arch. As the boat is underway (not a major vibration) the nylon nut falls off and the result is the antenna falls down. They need to re-design the connection to something stronger.

Comments about Shakespeare SeaWatch 3020 Marine TV Antenna:

Mounted on the spreader of my mast. First good wind storm/thunderstorm to blow through snapped the antenna off from the base and left a jabbed piece of fiberglass to great my main sail. Two others in the marina also snapped of in a similar manner with both mounted on the tops of the masts. Would not recommend this product.

Comments about Shakespeare SeaWatch 3020 Marine TV Antenna:

I finally installed the Model 3020 antenna, which was sent to me as the third replacement for two older models which were highly sensitive to electrical storms, as I was told by the customer service representative at Shakspeare, I thought I was finally good to go. The unit had good reception and even lasted through two thunderstorms. Then, this past weekend my excitement and the antenna came crashing down as we headed into 3 - 4 foot seas. Luckily, I have a bimini on the boat, or the antenna would have hit me right on the head. Instead it bounced out of the bimini and sand to the bottom of Lake Michigan in two pieces. I have now spent over $200.00 to get 3 Shakespeare "free replacement" antennas mounted on my boat. I'm not even going to try to get another Shakespeare replacement. It doesn't take a knock in the head for me to learn the difference between a good product and a bad one, and this is certainly a bad one.

Comments about Shakespeare SeaWatch 3020 Marine TV Antenna:

I bought this antenna to match the looks and location on the boat arch of the one I was replacing. The mounting 14/1 was correct for the mount and simply screwed on. I used the existing coax and it worked well. The A/C box was a little confusing and the instructions weren't good at explaining it. I am supposing it is a converter from 110 V to 12 V. I have a boat converter so I didn't use it. What would be nice if the box was an A/B switch and had a gain control.
The test was the reception. I got 55 channels. Amazing picture but fades and fractures in cloudy weather. Also a few common channels I get from the marina cable are barely visible....thus the A/B box to go back and forth. So far so goo.

Comments about Shakespeare SeaWatch 3020 Marine TV Antenna:

The mounting system is terriable. The 1st unit that was installed is sitting on the bottom of Lake Erie.
I was foolish enough to install a 2nd unit that almost ended up in the same lake. The marina had to glue the mounting supports together. The reception was also very poor.

I installed the unit on a stainless steel mount on the radar arch, and thought this was going to be the bee's knees... WRONG !

I get better reception from the a 2 coat hanger antenna I made prior to getting this unit.

I have a line-of-site to the broadcast tower on the top of the island to the west of the marina, and yet this unit has horrible reception. I do not understand. My TV is a brand new 24 inch LED IDTV (12v) that has a great picture. I have apple TV hooked up, I have the Satellite going thru the aux input that came with the antenna. All wire is RG6, and proper crimped connectors. I have checked every cable, and am not grounding the centre conductor on any line... I am so very disappointed. This is the worst Shakespeare antenna I have every owned !

We have installed 2 of these on the mast of a 46 catamaran and both have ended up falling off! The method of the antenna locking onto the mounting base is not well designed or has some flaw.
