Comments about Lowrance Link-8 Fixed VHF Radio/AIS Receiver:

I have this radio networked to my Furuno 1870F plotter using NMEA 2000 and it works great. It took a little to understand how to setup the NMEA 2000 but once I understood how to do it, it just took a few minutes. I called tech support twice, the first guy wasn't much help. The AIS is a really great feature. DSC works using the Furuno gps.

Comments about Lowrance Link-8 Fixed VHF Radio/AIS Receiver:

All the features for emergency locating that you want to have but never want to use. If an emergency arises you want to be located quickly. With DSC and AIS you will have the confidence you need in case of an emergency. This radio has all the features at a very reasonable price.

        Problem with NMEA 2000

Comments about Lowrance Link-8 Fixed VHF Radio/AIS Receiver:

I bough the Link-8 to be connected with a Garmin 541s chart-plotter though a NMEA2000 network, but the Link-8 keep showing the message No GPS -Input Position. Contacted Lowrance and learned that the software in the radio that I have doesn't work with NMEA 2000 as the product said. I have to send the radio now back to Navico for a replacement. What I going to get is a refurbished radio and not a new one. Be aware of this problem when you get a Link-8 for your NMEA 2000.
