This GPS model might be small, but it is packed with all the features in the models designed for large offshore boats. It is the perfect size for use on a small center-console boat, as it's footprint is tiny. The screen is bright, even in direct sunlight. Accuracy is incredible, both for depth and GPS position The menus are a little difficult to navigate, even though I have extensive experience with previous models. Would imagine there would be a very frustrating learning curve for a novice, however, it's better to have a fully functional unit instead of one that's "watered-down". The most notable improvement in this unit over its ancestor is the mounting bracket which both tilts AND pivots, without the need for extra accessory brackets. Also the removable map card is nice in order to use it on a home computer. Would like to see a face-cover to protect screen during storage

I have trouble with the Down Scan image. It has a lot of vertical pixels as if there may be interference or something. The regular sonar is ok if I drop down the gain to a negative number but the Down Scan does not clear up. The GPS works great and it is the main reason I purchased the unit. If anyone has a hint on the Down Scan interference I would like to know.

Having issues trying to update

By gym1970

from Virginia Beach, VA, United States

I can't complain for the most part but I can't get this unit to update. Having a problem with upd file. I have tried different computers and still can't get it to update. The manual could also be more in depth for updates etc. I didn't even know I had a microsd.

good unit

By Anonymous

good unit, im a kayak angler and the transducer is massive (3 times the size of dsi) but the ability to use traditional sonar and dsi is priceless. i mounted the transducer by ziptieing it to a scupper plug. only problem is sometimes it freezes so, you have to tun it off a couple of times i have had to unplug the unit, its a pain in the kayak.

Nice unit

Installed on kayak in designated scupper hole. Needed to order scupper hardware for transducer, also battery. Installation instructions for transducer mounts could be improved. Basically a guessing game what they mean.

Great Unit but Down Scan has some interference

The perfect tool for the boat

By Thompsonj

from South Carolina, United States

Have been using the Elite DSI for the past three months. Over all a good unit, I have had several times where it lost its mind and would read the depth at one or two feet when I was in fifty plus. The speed of the boat did not make a difference.

Good unit

I bought this unit about 10 months ago. Only problem I have with the unit is having to hit enter several times to get back to screens each time it is turned off.

Not very user friendly

By theridgeman

from Northern Idaho

The unit works as designed. Manual seem a bit vague. The menu is a bit confusing at times. Maybe It's the user but I have managed other electronics without much difficulty. I wish this unit had a voltage monitor as I use an electric trolling motor.
