First of all I own the 5500 and 6500. These are the two most versatile models. I absolutely love them. So I was looking for a reel that could take on anything in the 10- 60 lb range and in any scenario. So I got the 6500 combo. After a few nice yellowfin tunas I was hooked. I also use this for tarpon. The 5500 which I purchased soon after is more for barely legal grouper, snook, redfish, muttons, and the sorts. I totally recommend this product. It isn't as luxuries as a torque or Stella but it performs like it is. I also love how it comes with a decent rod to save you money. Go penn, and thanks for the amazing product

Comments about Spinfisher V Spinning Combos:

I have been using this combo to target snook on docks, piers and flats. I use it with 30lb invisibraid.

For my bait, I have used live shrimp and lures (Xrap, red tail hawks, DOA bait busters and Vudu Shrimp).

Fishing with live shrimp was normal. The rod was good and revealing activity. The reel handled the fish well. Caught a grouper, sheepshead, snapper, and snook.

The combo is awesome with the xrap. The rod gives the bait sick action, and the reel is powerful enough to handle some big fish. The retrieval rate is great for fighting snook because I can easily keep tension on the line. Caught 4 slot snook and a few smaller ones, as well as a ton of jacks.

The rod was a little too light for my 1 oz red tail hawk. It works fine, but I can feel the strain when I am popping it off the bottom. I prefer my Penn Spinfisher 5500 for that lure. Still caught a snook on it tho.

Anyway, I have caught at least 4-5 snook on each trip with this rod/reel combo. It is sweet with lower weight tackle.
