Best Uses

  • Grabbing mooring balls in Ayala Cove.

Comments about Hook & Moor Boat Hook:

Usually it's just my wife and me sailing. We frequently enjoy mooring in Ayala Cove, but with the higher freeboard of sailboats these days (not to mention our ever increasing ages), grabbing mooring balls fore and aft has become a real challenge. We tried other devices, but we wanted to find something more sturdy. This product is exactly what we were looking for. It comes in 6 ft. and 9 ft. telescoping lengths. We decided on the 9 ft. model "just in case," although the 6 ft. model would probably be more than sufficient in all but the most unusual circumstances. It is very well made, and very easy to use. The fact that you loop the line using a pulling motion rather than stabbing it makes the whole process much easier than with other products we've tried, and just as importantly, avoids the unseemly appearance that we are attempting to harpoon some unfortunate marine mammal. Honestly, we have only used it once (twice if you count fore and aft mooring lines), but our experience was enough to convince us. Try it, you'll like it! Now, if the CA Dept. of Parks and Recreation would just install those new mooring balls. . . .

It actually works

By Bondo Bob

Pros

  • Easy to set up
  • Worked On The First Try

Cons

  • 34 3-strand Nylon Jams

Best Uses

  • Mooring Bouys
  • Mooring Rings On Docks
  • Stanchions And Rails

Comments about Robship Hook & Moor Boat Hook:

This gadget worked great on the first try. The only hitch was when we tried stiff 3/4 inch 3-strand docklines. It doesn't slide easily through the clip. 1/2 inch double-braid worked every time.
