I have replaced both of the Super Switches (they had lasted for over 7 years) in our bilge two times each in the last two years with the same switch. The last time, they worked for two weeks and then were done. It was at that point that I noticed the common thread of poor reviews at every place I could look for the Rule Super Switch. Hope there is something better.

This product has failed repeatedly. The switch sticks in the on position even with the float all the way down. I just recieved a call while out-of-town, bilge alarm on, another failed switch.

I don't want to hear how sorry the manufacturer is, fix your design flaw.

I use this for an automatic bilge pump. This switch has been replaced in Sep 2010, Oct 2011 and April 2013. It's April 2014 and the switch has failed again. Typically, the float paddle moves freely but the circuit does not open when the bilge is dry. It has caused one pump to fail. If I can't find an alternative, all I can do is hope it doesn't fail when my bilge needs pumping. At least there is a 5 year warranty which would be little consolation if your boat sank.

Comments about Rule Industries Super Switch:

This product is awful, awful awful. On the very first trip using this switch, the bilge filled with a foot of water and the float did not activate.

The problem is that the float hinge is so poorly made, it's too tight. Even when submerged in water, it fails to pop up and turn the bilge on.

My boat was minutes from sinking because of this faulty switch. I had to reach into the bilge and manually pop the float up to turn the bilge on.

Not only is the product junk, it could potentially kill you and your family.

Comments about Rule Industries Super Switch:

My second "SuperSwitch" in less than two years has failed on the OFF position, both time allowing rainwater to accumulate in the bilge. It's a very clean bilge, with a pump well so no sloshing to hurt the switch. The old mercury switch that Bertram installed in 1976 lasted until this winter (12-13), now two SuperSwitches bit the dust in one boating season. Buy something else or sink!

Immaculate bilge contantly sticks on and runs down battery or does not operate in the lift position. Used with Rule pump this heavy amperage switch should not fail every year. Bilge cycle switch shows operation less than 10 cycles per year. Find an alternate solution for your needs!

Last summer I replaced an older Rule switch on my 27' Sea Ray (picked it up at my local West Marine) with this switch. I figured it was a "super" version so couldn't go wrong. I've had constant issues with it not switching off or on. I'm an avid boater (2 boats), mechanic and have this installed in a spotless bilge. I'd buy the basic version.

Comments about Rule Industries Super Switch:

We use this switch on the bilge pumps (2) in a wooden tall ship. It is so failure prone that we keep 4 or 5 switches on hand for replacements. We use it to operate a Rule pump so we are not mis-applying it. I have had it fail in as little as one week of service. I have an old Rule mercury switch on my own boat that is 10 years old and still works fine. This rolling ball design is junk.

This switch is not worth the price. In fact, it's worthless. I've replaced it 3 times in the past 2 years.
Luckily, my boat is still floating because I check it often.
