Comments about Ugly Stik Spinning Rod & Reel Combos:

I bought 2 of these to go fishing with my elderly dad on his bowrider in the Chesapeake. Neither of us is a particularly avid fisherman, but, we both enjoyed it and used it as an excuse to spend some time together. He passed recently and the rods got moved to the sailboat. My fishing with them consists of dropping 2 lures with different weights off the back while day sailing around the bay, south of the bridge. My fishing style while sailing is casual, and that's an understatement. Having said that those rods have landed a couple of rockfish, a fairly large bluefish when they were running, and a few others not worth mentioning.

Other than hosing them off a couple of times, they get no love and are always put away wet and dirty. In spite of that all they do is work. Totally reliable.

If you're a professional fisherman, you're probably not reading this and this isn't the rode for you. However, for the rest of us, I think this combo represent pretty great value.

Bought this rod and reel combo for surf casting for perch. It's a little light for that purpose, but worked fine.

Comments about Shakespeare Ugly Stik Spinning Rod & Reel Combos:

I fish mainly at night, out of a boat by myself when the temp is 70 degrees or above, the moon is out and the wind is 10 mph or less. I was out Fishing about a month ago and had just caught about a ten pound cat on another ugly stick combo. when my wife called me on the cell phone to make sure that I was still in the boat and the best ugly stick combo that I dearly loved was in a self locking pole holder with a night bite indicator on the tip. I saw the light move and before I could put down the cell phone something really big took the rod and reel out of the pole holder and down it went away from the side of the boat leaving a wake. Talk about being upset if the water would have been 5 feet or less I would have dove in after it at 230 in the morning, but the water was 16 feet deep and the rig was out of sight. The rest of the morning I could only think of the ugly stick commercials about it being indestructable, that's great I never had one break,BUT THEY DON't FLOAT.

The first one I bought snapped, still don't know how. The replacement i got was the same identical rod worked perfectly ever since. I've caught chum salmon, lingcod, rockfish, and in freshwater one time was able to catch a good size cutthroat trout. I'd say this is a very great rod & reel combo.

Comments about Ugly Stik Spinning Rod & Reel Combos:

This is an economical and versatile rod that is ideally suited for inshore boat fishing. I use it primarily for striped bass and bluefish. The rod itself is light weight and offers a good feel for the fish.

              Service and delivery comments:

              1. I used ship to store and no one called from the store to tell me this arrived. It would still be in the store if I hadn't called them and asked if it had arrived.

              2. Not sure if my Boat U.S. points were credited to this order. There is no place on the order form to put my membership number.
